What size carbon filter

Ok so, i just flipped the ladies (hopefully) tonight.. i need a cf still, i have an 8 inch apollo fan 740 or 720 cfm i forget an flowering 8 plants, question is i cant afford the damb 8inch filter ,i just got laid off today so funds are gonna be kinda tight.. so i decided to try an make one. Anyone have any good advice on this or any exp? I dont wanna make o e thats way to small or way to big or screw it up completwly an it not work... an im not what u can say legal... lol so smell is a nono.. all the smaller ones ive seen made are for 4 or 6 inch fans witb low cfm ratings...i was thinking of using a 5 gallon bucket with a 6inch pipe stickin out,(duct pipe) drill holea in pipe wrap pipe with activated carbon filter (like the mesh ones for like a heater) drill holes in bucket wrap bucket with another heTer carbon filter then fill inbetween the bucket an pipe with carbon an put a 6x8 increaser on the end to fit to my fan.. think it would work or if any other ideas lets hearem.. i need somethin thats gonna work.. an might be hard to hang a 5 gsllon bucket full of carbon lol
