Hello all! Thanks for the great site and now a forum!
​​​​​I'm calling this my first grow because of all the mistakes I made my real first grow.Very smooth this time with fem seeds and gwe at my side. I started growing to save money and to help my fiance and mother with their pain. I'm using a drip dwc and a 400w hid in a ski closet (why is it called a ski closet? Because you.can fit skis in it) anyway...

I'm gathering things together for my next grow and wanted to know what general hydroponics nectar do you all use? I have a lot of gh left over and didn't want to have an issue using a different brand.

Good question. Personally I use the G.H. FLORA THREE SERIES. Also their CALMAG +. I find this combination hard to beat, in terms of cost and quality. I find the CALMAG+ one of the most important nutrients. I use all of them from start to finish, varying strength according to age, veg, flower. You know the drill.

Hey The Nerd!

Thank you for the info ill been looking in to that . Also I haven't been using any calmag+... from my understanding calmag is used when you are growing in coco or using RO water. Unless I missed something. I have just been using my tap water, Isn't their calcium and magnesium in it already? So I didn't see the need for it at the time. Please let me know your thoughts.

What gh sweetener fertilizer do.you recommend? They have a lot of different options.

Hey Mt,

Calcium is the foundation and building blocks of every living thing. There isn't enough in tap water. Everyone always told me " more CALMAG " when they would see pictures of my plant's. The reason was I never used it, then when I finally started, the difference was like night and day. The plants love it. And yes it's used in coco, but also in a soil. I go by Nebula's theory, G.H. Flora Grow, Flora Micro and Flora Bloom pretty much covers it. You could loose the Flora Grow and use the Lucas formula, that's my preferred method. Lucas only uses the Micro and Bloom. Look it up online.

I have never used any of the sweetening agents available from several companies. During my first grow, which was grown in composted super soil, I did use Blackstrap Molasses in the later stages of flower to try to add bulk and taste to my buds.....well they turned out to be the best tasting, smoothest, most sticky buds I have ever smoked!

I would love to chuck up the great bud to the molasses, but I have the feeling that the reason the bud was so good was the fact that it was grown with love, and taken care of well. Also the ICED Grapefruit was a tasty strain anyway!

I have since become a Bubblehead, and still harvest incredible tasty medicine without sugar agents....maybe they would be better with??? I don't know...

Give them more love instead of expensive products with fancy labels!

I do not use any commercial sweetening agent.I use Fox Farm Trio and Molasses the last 2 weeks of flowering. I did overdo it with the molasses one season and darn near killed one of my plants. Potasium overload.

Thanks w&w. I hear you with the love. I play music for them at all times. I believe it's been changed to classical. I thought it would be best for the last bit until flush. :)

​​​​A fellow grower told me he thought it made an improvement on his Maui Waui. Molasses is viable for other setups. I just don't think it will work well for me. the guy at the local hydroponic store told me all you really need is the base trio and you are fine start to finish. I'd like to know if anyone's used this brand of sweetener or currently is? Or any sweetener? GH claims a lot about it. Isn't false advertisement illegal?

How do you like the FF Trio? I was originally going to do my first grow with FF Ocean Forest and FF Trio. Then my uncle shoved 2 drip hydro buckets, clones included, into my grow tent and said "Here, go nuts!".

I still have the FF bottles in my nutrient cupboard. I hope the stuff doesn't spoil over time?
 
I started off with the FF trio. I like it ok. Never used anything else. I always use half strength only. I never had any problem with it. Other then I mentioned before. A molasses overload.
