What do you use to chop/grind your buds?

Whats the difference between these and other 4 chamber grinders. Are the blades any different or is it just the holes ?. Mine looks exactly the same save for the holes.

I use a coffee bean grinder it will do a 1/4 ounce at a time, good for a couple of days. but it takes some getting used too. OZ I like the idea behind your herb grinder it looks like you can take it all apart for cleaning I'm going to look into that thanks

The health risks imposed by aluminum is not new, basically any heavy metal is bad at toxic levels. What is not fully understood is how much. Aluminum is everywhere, in your food, in your water, in your medicines. Theres always something new for the health conscientious to worry about. But its usually from people who understand less about biology. Whats interesting here is that you avoid aluminum grinders, yet smoke cannabis which is rich in chemicals. Including aluminum. Unless you vape, then ok.

It doesn't have a keif catcher. You can see that it's covered in sticky stuff; I scrape all that off with a sharp object.

If your stash comes and goes very quickly, you probably don't need to worry about how carefully you store and handle it. I'm the opposite end of that scale. I like to have lots of choices, so there's always a couple little bags from last year's best plants in a thermos at the back of my freezer. If you are serious about keeping it fresh for a long time, you need to treat it like the complex and oxygen-sensitive stuff it is.

From a chemist's perspective: Weed, especially its active cannabinoids, will be degraded by exposure to oxygen in the air. Grinding it exposes more surface area and makes this process happen faster. A pile of dust-fine ground weed will be affected much more than an intact bud. Depending on local humidity, it may also lose moisture quickly and wind up dry and harsh. If you find it convenient to grind/chop/cut large amounts at a time, store the product in tightly sealed bottles or bags and take out what you need for a day or two. Pharmacy pill bottles were made for this.

I'm also a tool-user, so it feels natural to handle my dope with something like:

Just reach into the bottle or bag, snag enough for a hit, and crush it as you load it into your smoking appliance.

That there is fancy!!! I was referring to the link(tweezers!) I use them daily in both my grow and smoke. Love my tools!!!

nice write up Zativa . as a chemist here's a question for long term storage what do you think about Quart jars vacuum sealed in the freezer " I like the thermos idea already

So I went out and grabbed a cheap grinder just to see what they were all about... they alright. They grind. I currently slice mine using two razor blades and it works better for me. Tad bit dangerous maybe but Ive used these blades daily for 30+ years. Anyway just wanted to share my thoughts

Your mate chops really big buds!!! Those are cool blades though! I am somewhat of a blade collector.

NebulaHaze So you don't worry about aluminum particles getting ground up? I think this looks like a great grinder, but I'm concerned that, although it is anodized aluminum, some alum. particles with get ground up as well.

Jeg, I think you understand -- some people are instinctive tool users and for them, tweezers are just finger extensions. The ones I linked to are about the right size and weight, and cost only about $2 each on Amazon. Between not losing a lot on fingertips and taking just what you need each time, it's easy to avoid wasting bud.

The freezer definitely helps keep your product fresh for a very long time. All chemical reactions happen much more slowly at low temperatures, including processes like oxidation which can damage your weed's cannabinoids and terpenes. I especially use it to keep samples of my favorite grows like new for special occasions. Mostly I just use heavy-duty zipper bags since they don't take nearly as much freezer space as glass jars. Inside a thermos, the temperature stays constant so your herb doesn't get freezer burned nearly as fast.

In years past, I was a razor blade user. Something very primitive and satisfying about chopping small amounts by hand rather than processing an entire bag at once with a tool. As soon as you chop or grind it the product begins to react with air and moisture, so it keeps best if you do just what you need.
