What Brand Portable AC unit for tent?

Insight

New member
I am growing in a 4'x4'x7' foot tent and with a 315 LEC temps are rising to 85° and I plan on adding another 315 LEC soon.
I'm using 6" exhaust with filter and can max inline fan.

I think I would like to add a portable AC unit to the tent.
Online reviews of portable AC units are all over the place so I thought I'd get good answers here.

What brand Portable AC unit are you using...Pro's, Con's....do you like your unit.

Right now I have to keep the tent door open and the door to the grow room open and I can keep temps just under 80° but I loose my "stealthyness" and don't feel too safe.

Thanks.

Hey Insight, what is your room temperature?
My tent is 32x32x63 an my room temp. Is 70degrees, inside my tent it's 74-78 degrees with my 315cmh turned up on super lumen, I've got the same 6inch exaust an scrubber like you got.
How long have you had your 315? My first one did great for a week or so then it keep getting hotter an hotter, an I had to send it back an got another kind of 315 an it runs super cool. Just say in I hope it ain't your light.

Thanks for the reply.

My room temperature is about 72° F. With the tent closed and room door closed..with the one LEC....it starts climbing past 86°F.

I hope it's not the bulb also. I do have another 315 LEC with Sun Remote Reflector so I'll do some more temperature testing.
Right now, with the tent door open and the room door open I have a nice temp of 79°F.

I'm concerned what the temps will be with 2 LEC 315 going at the same time.....Think I'll need some AC.

Yeah, you ought to be fine with one light, I don't know about 2.. The one I got from GrowersChoice is lots cooler running than the one I got off Amazon.
Good Luck with yours .

Does your 315 have a dimmable ballast ?
I don't know of any small good air conditioners, but you sure don't want it to hot in your tent. Big Problems.

Hey D.A.A.S.69....no dimmable ballast.
Was playing around when I got home...switched out the 6" vivosun filter and exhaust fan with my original Phresh filter and Can Max fan....with tent door closed and room door closed....now only 80°.

Even though the Vivosun is 390 cfm and the Can Max is 334 cfm....doing better with Can Max and much more quiet.

Good deal Insight, I knew your light was suppose to run cooler than it was. That's better, but a little cooler would be even better. What's your humidity? ?

Insight sounds like the can filter is the problem not the fan. how long is your run of duct work ifs it really long try to keep it as straight as possible

From what I can tell, the problem is with the new vivosun filter and fan. They are brand new but I don't think they move the amount of air the can max/phresh filter can move. I bought the vivosun setup for my drying area because it started to smell upstairs during drying and the vivosun worked great for that.

First thing I noticed with the vivosun setup was I was able to increase my humidity to 70% which I could never do with the Can Max setup. The noise from the vivosun was bothering me so switched back to the can max / phresh combo, which has 2 grows under its wings. The temp immediately dropped in to the high 70's but now the humidity is about 32%, which is the way it was my past 2 grows.

I'll be adding the second LEC next week, I'll have to see where the temps go after that.

Bottom line is you get what you pay for....both are 6" systems but the can max / phresh filter are considerably more than the vivosun

Insight I mounted my fans to the ceiling and man did they make some noise so I took a flat solid rubber bungie cord and and screwed that to ceiling and hung the fan from that ,all you can hear now is the air, No vibration noise at all

Thanks for the tip, OJH.
With the CanMax Fan, I have it hung from the ceiling with 2 small cords and it is......silent....(and running around 76° and 34% RH)
