SOIL Week 10 (3rd week of flowering) - how's it looking? 4x Jack Herer Fem

Hey folks,

This is my first time growing. They're in the 10th week now, 3rd week of flowering. I'm wondering if you have any advice during this final stretch? Thanks!!:D
  • 4x Jack Herer Fem
  • Growing in Stepwell super soil in 7g pots. Have been using the EM1 and Veg/Bloom Top Dressing so far. They seem to really like this.
  • Currently on a 12/12 light cycle (was on 16/8 until week 8). All LED lighting, about 40-50cm from the plant tops
  • Room stays between 18-22C. Humidity 40-60%.
  • Have a fan going over the plants and an extractor booster fan too
  • The plants have gone through 4 or 5 rounds of gentle lollipopping (removing about 20% of the leaves, mostly big ones, from the bottom)

Lookin good... I'm probably gonna start a large debate but I'm gonna say it anyway. I would thin out some of the fan leaves. My opinion is the lower ones don't get enough light to really make a difference except for they block airflow which can create an area moist and dark where mold and diseases like to live. Also if any of the larger fan leaves on top are blocking light from budsites especially towards the middle where they again and for the same reason they block airflow.

Heck i remove those spindly little undergrowth branches and leaves now. I'm liking this lollipop look :) but if done to early during veg lots of it will grow back. Try it sometime about 2-3wk of flower :)
 
Always happy for some healthy debate! Thanks for the feedback. I actually removed 20-30% of the leaves on each plant 2 days ago and they just keep growing like crazy. I'll get rid of some of the lower fan leaves again in a few days.
 
Defoliation is good - I do it all the time - but at one point of flowering your plant won't be reproducing any more leaves.
 
Personally I never stop but like canuck said they won't make new leaves so as time goes on you might only have to take out 4-5 that are blocking budsites from light or laying flat against a bud after you retie because a bud's to heavy. You never want leaves or other buds all bunched up together because of airflow, without airflow you risk mold. Mold can be washed but you still don't want ANY
