It's not really needed but there are things that tell you the soil needs water. If you have plants that haven't filled out the pot then you only need to give them a cup or2 of water and I don't think that meter would help. I always use the knuckle test in soil till they fill the pot then I use a combination of the knuckle test and the lift method. What kind of pot? And I wouldn't cut off yellow leaves till I know I have solved the problem and it isn't spreading to other leaves. More info on what kind of soil and pics would help too.

You could try coco coir and geopots it’s pretty hard to overwater it cause I just drench my 7gal pot with 1.5 to 2 gal of water but I feed full strength so I need the extra runoff and I do that once a week till she is drinking a lot more from being mature then i switch to feed and water about ever 4 to 5 days and you can always do the knuckle test which is where you stick your finger in the soil and if it’s dry to first knuckle you water it and you can always pick the pot up too cause it should be pretty light when you need to water hope any of this helps you

fabric pots and lift it is what I do never had any issues with over under watering. I use soil and 4 weeks into flower I water 1.5 gallons every 4-5 days.

Oh I used soil for the first half of the first grow and everything was too slow and held the water too long. With coco it keeps it a lot looser and more oxygenated from the coir being looser And what was your pot size?

That is what I had I upgraded to the 7 to get more growth out of the plant this ti,e around and I’m definitely happy with it the 7 gal geopots
