"WATERING DWC?"

Just wondering I am in my first grow DWC 5gal Pals, 6" baskets, no top feed I have been watering with the res water twice a day so the roots would continue to grow out of the basket and into the res water.......Once the roots are out and into the res water do or should I continue to keep the root riot and clay up top wet?......

hi ws on my 3rd dws grow 5 gal buckets. I'm kind of anal but in control enough to listen to advice on here so haven't overfed or light burned any from doing to much. I kept hand watering and slowly got to the point of forgetting to sometimes for a week and saw no problems whether keeping top moist or letting it dry. but if there is potential to harm one way or the other I hope someone with more knowledge or experience answers you good luck I enjoy dwc

Thanks spinzella...I at this point was thinking about letting them go for a day and see how they look...Right now they are all 4 doing great.....Lets see......

Once the roots are well established and down into the reservoir water, they should be ok. An occasional wetting of the roots, especially in dry climates, does not hurt them either. Usually my water pump (for the root training) gets clogged up, reducing the flow and I just unplug them and let them go with out any further drip. If the roots are looking dry then water them, it is not going to hurt them. The main thing in DWC is 'keep the water aerated!', lots and lots O'Bubbles!!! (the Irish version, lol).
