water pH for NoTill soil, outdoors, growing autoflower?

As the topic says, I'm growing autoflowers outdoors using NoTill soil. Am I correct in thinking my water pH should be in the 6-7 range? Also, do I need to bother checking the pH of the soil if I am making sure the water pH is correct?
