SOIL Virgin auto run oh and journal

I'm glad your giving autos a shot. I love growing them. They can be little assholes though. Any little mishap and your yield will suffer. They stunt very easily when seedlings. But once they hit flower they take off like a bat out of hell. Good luck MeEasy!

I will be starting an auto run in about ten days. My soil is started. I was wondering about autoflowers and when to get the boost started since they're so quick. I sent a note to Green Sunshine and this was the response.

"We often get asked how to best use Earth Dust when growing Autoflowers. This is a basic guide to follow that may help with your success! To start, follow the instructions on your bag to amend your media with the Base mix and allow to cook for 2-4 weeks. It is safe to sow your seeds directly into your soil, however using a peat starter plug can help assure your seeds a safe start. Once you're plant has matured to day 30-35 you will want to apply your top dressing of Boost at a rate of 3-4 tablespoons per gallon of media and rake it into the top 1 inch layer of media and water. Make sure the top layer of your soil stays moist for a couple of days to allow the nutrients to penetrate into the substrate below. This should provide your plant with all of the nutrition it should need to finish its full cycle. If your plants shows any sign of deficiency, try to incorporate a boost or compost teas to supplement. Remember when growing with a living soil, it is best to keep it simple and let nature go to work. Please let us know if you have any questions and happy growing!"

They must have that email stored somewhere because it is word for word the same email I got back from them lol
Stay in touch OlderNOTwiser we can throw tips back n forth, @ me if you do a journal or something. Good luck 🌲😎

Update = good morning all. I have 5 of the 8 above ground, just in case they don't come up I dropped three more seeds this morning. If they decide to come up I guess I'll have to find room in another tent for any extras. That's the most attractive thing about autos they are pretty flexible with light schedules. I'm going to put up a pic but you can't really see shit in it but figured I took the damn thing I might as well share it 😜 have a good weekend

LOL you are a naughty boy heehee. But oh do you know how to grow :) i'm really having fun with mine. It's like opening a gift when i unzip the tent every morning.

Update = the three never came up good thing I dropped replacement seeds right away. I planted the replacements this morning should have a better turnout I had tried leaving the seeds in a cup to sprout this time instead of staying with my normal paper towel method which was obviously a mistake 🤔 I don't see why it would be different as long as they get a tap root but for some reason I lost more than normal

I hear ya.....winter i don't know mine took more time to crack with my current round of photos flowering in the tent. I think but who knows....winter?

I never tried anything else than sowing them straight in the soil like Mother Nature would have done.
It’s easier to keep dark and moist than in a paper towel

Water peroxide must be used just for a few seconds to sterilize the seeds surface and then drop into clean water, leaving the peroxide mixed with the water may be the reason they didnt gerninate

I've been using peroxide water to soak them in since the mid 90s but the lady that showed me how said to move them to paper towels after 24 hours and that's how I've doing it. I read that you can just leave them in cups until they were ready so I figured I'd try it and either the seeds were not good or the method was not good. It is curious that 2 of the 3 that didn't come up were the same strain but they all had tales when I planted them. It's always possible that it was operator error I've messed up more expensive shit then that in my life 🙃

All 8 are above ground and seem to be healthy enough to live, this grow has so many firsts for me, 1st autos, 1st time I tried to germ completely in a cup (no p towels) big mistake imo 50% failed (could be as 9fingerleafs said soaking in the peroxide water mix I normally leave em 24 hours in cups and transfer to p towels) to grow and I used cup to p towels on replacements 100% are up, and 1st time I planted straight into forever home pots I have always used some kind of starter pot mainly so I can fix any normal seedling flaws like long or crooked stems but it seems to be doing okay so far. I treated these with bit juice this morning (soaked mosquito bits strained) not necessarily to water them but to wet the living soil to keep it moist and I've been seeing a few gnats in all my tents

I just popped a couple photos for the other 2x4 purple skunk and Gelato OG thought I'd share

Good luck. You got this. Man I'm still having issues. Idk if its cause the filter water or me not ph'ing.
I'm about to start my 1st full photoperiod grow.

Have you heard of geoflora? It's like earthdust. same size, about same price. I'm thinking of trying.
I always just plant the seed straight to soil in 4gal pot. Dome.
&
about 90% success with that. For me.
I fail worse other ways of germ.

Lookin forward to your flowers on these.

That's now my go to way also MeEasy with the seeds. I just did that solution yesterday, then back into the towel, tomorrow if no show both get tossed. My other 2 seeds sprouted in 24hrs, into there permanent homes under the t-5 now.

I don't know HobbitGDF me having issues with my last 2 auto seeds. Did the same as MeEasy the 2nd time with the same seeds. Now they are tucked away in the towel an baggie if no show tomorrow out the window with them and begin somemore.

What is the ph and ppm of your tap water? What type filter and are you sure it has carbon? Mine is pretty far out and I don't have a problem not ph'ing. No I've never heard of the geoflora. Didn't you say you haven't used ed all the way through? Did you allow the soil to cook for a couple weeks? Last if you're allowing the soil to dry it won't work for you because the micros won't live in dry soil

Yeah this grow has had the full treatment of ED. It was my last one that was 1/2 treatment.
Yes it is a carbon filter.
I also have the shaker bottle of plant microbes and probiotic. I will.add some In next watering. I dont think i ever let them dry tho. Maybe to wet really
Could it be caused by overwatering?
