Vape temps and protocols

So I'm working with my new, very flexible Pax3 vape. I've been setting it at 400 F and just letting it heat away. Everything works very well.
But I began to wonder if lower temps are better, or do you start low and then progress to higher temp?
I think it can be set from about 220 F to 420 F.
The phone app also has a number of settings to prescribe how it responds to a draw. But I think the temp settings are probably more real or actually make a difference.
The phone gives real time feed back about what the device is doing.

Any experiences or preferences would be appreciated.
 
I think lower is definitely better. You don't want to heat the stuff to the point of combustion. You only want to heat it to the point where the THC starts to boil and vaporize. With lower temperatures it will take longer to heat and produce lower volumes of vapor, so if you're one of the those guys who loves giant clouds you will be disappointed, but persistence counts! ;)

Dry herb should look lightly toasted (i.e. lightly browned) at most, not blackened. Oils/resin/etc should liquefy and then start to put out vapor, but (to my way of thinking, anyway) not go like crazy. Vaporized THC, not combustion byproducts (i.e. smoke).
 
THC boils at 392 degrees. Get to that point and you will be fine. The thing I found out with mine is that you can't always trust the digital readout on your Vaporizer.
