Using stems in canna oil?

While drying leafs in the oven to make canna oil, I keep wondering as I strip the leafs off the stems, if the stems can also be used in the boiling process if crushed up? I noticed a few times now that when I would bend a stem, that sticky liquid would come out which is as sticky as maple sap. I been tossing these in the past, but now wonder if I might have been throwing out something that could have been used the my canna oil process.

Thanks for the confirmation. I was easily able to grind down the smaller ones. The larger ones I'm hoping the electric grinder will be able to break down.
