using air purifier as secondary filter

Hi there,

I got a growtent with all the equipment off a friend and will start my first grow soon, going for earth rather than hydrophonic to keep things simple for now.

My question, and I hope this isn't too silly, is it possible to add an air purifier as secondary air filter to help contain smell? I ve got one which I am thinking of making use of or give away if not feasible.

(I am considering this as I heard that 2 air filters eliminate all smell from the grow and I only have one in my set up)

Is it the Ozone generator type? If so I think it would work. I have an electrostatic one in my furnace and it removes almost all odors.

I use a charcoal filter that is part of my AC Infinity exhaust fan. Never really had any smell even when I started exhausting into my living room (tent is in the basement) to help keep the RH down in the basement.

I'd say be sure that there are no lights on the air purifier so that you don't upset the plants in the dark period since it needs to be 100% completely dark. Even a little indicator light could upset your plants.

The part that takes the odors out of the air are the charcoal filters, so if your air purifier has those then I can imagine that it would help if you're super concerned that the odor might lead to trouble. But you may want to see what it's like with just the 1 and then know that you can try the 2nd one as backup as needed.

I bought an oversized filter and fan (6" rather than 4") so I could run it slower but then crank it up before I opened the tent. Better but not 100%. It would be reasonable to put another filter on the exhaust end for double filtering but that would work best with a high static pressure fan. I wouldn't know what spec to put on the fan but the higher the better. No tent filter well be 100% because you have to open the tent too attend to the plants. A room filter will be needed for complete stealth. I went with an outside exhaust for the room because I already had the stuff. I don't like running that in winter.

hands down the best way to neutralize any smell, but exercise caution if close to plants.. Not using one now but have used them in the past. A second air filter with carbon pre filter would help some but it would not be like a carbon filter with 10 / 15 pounds of carbon in it...

Has anyone tried bactolacillius for odor control? A friend of mine has livestock, and her pens are absolutely rank. I made some super bacto and sprayed it around and vio-wala. I couldn't believe it myself. Zero odor. Another lady I know had her mom staying with her. Her mom smoked three packs of cigarettes a day, and refused to come out of the room. You could smell a nasty dirty ashtray smell two blocks away. When mom moved out, I sprayed the room and it got rid of the super ashtray smell after the second application. I am amazed how well it works on odors. Garbage, Raw sewage, you name it.
