UrbZ Second Grow Journal - 3 Strain Grow

Journal Entry

Since I have the microscope I will be using it throughout the grow for different reasons. Today I used it to select seeds for the grow. I figured if I got several good close-ups of each seed I use when one doesnt germinate I may be able to look at the close-ups and see what maybe made that seed pop or not pop compared to the others. I took several shots for my comparisions but will only share one close-up and 1 normal zoom of each.

I can tell right away the freebies are far inferior quality than ones I paid for.

Seed labels are in picture captions.

The Blue Dream especially. They had hardly any pattern to them and very small(freebies). The rippers were fat seeds. The white thunders had decent markings but were on the smaller size as well.

The Sour Ripper seeds are by far the best I've looked at. Fat and well defined patterns. They are by Ripper Seeds.

The white thunder are pretty small not too defined. They are by Kera Seeds.

The Blue Dream seeds are pretty shotty IMO. They were free. I would actually have to purchase Fem BD seeds from BlimBurn to see if the freebies are worse quality than ones paid for. Not really high on my list of strains though so I doubt I will do this.

Now just to pop them. No matter what looks are a seed that pops is a seed that pops.

I'm probably gonna pop a couple of other strains I have for an outdoor grow. Some of them are similar breeders some are different. I figure not only being able to maybe tell good from bad seeds but maybe I can eliminate breeders by low germ rate and seed looks combined.

The blue dream is same as sour ripper both are 60/40. You think the BD seeds are small cause they are freebies? They are much smaller than the rippers.

Journal Update

Prepped my solo's for planting later on. I flushed them out with r/o pH'd at 6.3. Starting ppms of the flush water was 47. Final readings on runoffs were all between 6.4 and 6.5. All ppms came out at 60-70 ppms.

Ready to plant.

This one works good second run Ive had with it. The only thing I would suggest is spending a few extra and getting the controller or one with it built in.

Campesino

Yeah this ended up being more steps than I wanted to do. Next time I think I will just flush the initial soil out. Then place the seed directly in the soil and put a syring of clonex/Oregonism right in with them. Then the heating mat on top to creat the warm humid environment.

The heating mat on top of the cups is the hardest part for me to get behind. I'm not saying it won't work, but it seems like your timing will need to be good. They'll want light as soon as they pop their heads up, so I would use a CFL at this point to create the warmth and it will be right there also providing light when sprout emerges. I understand that doesn't address the humidity issue, which is also important - but will continue to be as seedlings. Do you have a humidity dome?

I gave instructions just in case if any are showing sprouts to put them in the window sill till I return home. I have someone keeping an eye on them luckily. No humidity dome but my tent is humidity controlled with a humidifier
