It's defoliation time again. Week 6ish. There's no new leaf growth anymore. The buds have been fattening up fast, they need as much light as possible. "Time to get the blade!" someone shouted.
A small debate goes on apparently, to cut or not to cut during flowering. Anyone who's trimmed grand ma's roses knows you can go at it all summer long and they won't die! Actually if those roses are pruned properly all through their cycles and along with a proper feeding program, those branches will keep on producing flowers until it gets too cold. Sounds familiar?

Oh yeah, I ended up once having to literally mow down about 20 roses, couple never came back but otherwise you couldn't tell now. I can't guarantee the original lineages though, whatever happens below the graft...

Decided to remove those videos off my YouTube page, 2 different "goals", and I can't seem to be able to upload them on the forum. But considering the lack of interest and general dorkiness of the videos I might not bother trying. Been trying to post a gif of a tumble weed instead but even that didn't work out...sigh...going back in the shed...
