Trichomes on 1:1 thc cbd

Hi everyone! Thanks for reading and sorry if this has been posted about before. I’ve struggled to search the answer. How do you all tell when a 1:1 cbd thc is done? If from what I understand of trichomes changing, cloudy is max thc/cbd so I figure I do as usually and cut at a sprinkle of amber.

The reason for asking is I have a 1:1 sweet nurse auto that is running long (almost 12 weeks) and fox tailing. No sign of ambers, and only kinda cloudy. I am planning on using all of it to make a salve.

My experience with outdoor sativas, old school variety, is to try and harvest at first sign of amber on the flowers.

Most of these varieties are not strong in THC, some are though,...6 to 10% seems to be about the norm but the effects are great given the other compounds.

When yours are best to go will be strain dependant I guess. Does the breeder give any help there?

All cloudy is Max THC. As it ambers it breaks down into CBD, CBG?? and CBN...So the more amber the less THC and more CBD & CBN

Thank you Bluey for confirming my thinking. The breeder states 56-65 days and this is my 3rd go for this particular strain. The other two finished around 8 weeks with a typical sprinkle of amber to let me know they are done. This is the only 1:1 cultivar I’ve grown, everything else has been full thc. I have enjoyed this strain but I am looking to expand my cbd growing. I’ve got a pack of heavy cbd regs I’ve been wanting to grow/hunt. I just need to nail down my shizzle a bit more before I start popping the “special” seeds though lol. ✌️

My experience growing autos has been limited to one strain developed by Franklin which is a Red CBD x AK47 and I grew it to mostly amber. It turned out to be a real winner especially for insomnia.

I've seen similar results growing 1:1 strains, where the trichomes develop faster or look different than high-THC strains. For anyone curious about cannabinoids other than THC and CBD, I’ve experimented with a thcv isolate to see how it might interact with those trichomes too. It added a noticeably energetic effect without messing with my plant’s development schedule. Always cool to explore how different compounds play together.
