Transplanting from coco to hydro - ever tried it?

I've got a dozen clones in one-gallon fabric pots that will be going into flowering after my current grow is harvested. There are too many of them to flower them out in the RDWC setup I'm building so they'll likely be flowered out in a SOG in coco. So I'm asking for the sake of a future situation where I may have to park a few clones in coco - can they be taken out of their pots, roots rinsed of coco and then placed in hydro?
BTW, I have moved a pair of moms from hydro (where they were growing way too fast) into coco successfully. The guys at the hydro store had never heard of any cannabis plants surviving that kind of move.
 
I too have read that the process does not typically work.... I can’t remember where I’ve read it but it was exactly that kind of transplant. Wanna sacrifice one and see?
 
I would think you could..... I have rinsed the dirt out of more than one impacted rootball & set them in new soil. But never a cannabis plant. Protect that taproot!! Since lettin it get dry is the biggest worry I would think goin straight to water would be less stressful & easier....??

I have also successfully gone from hydro to soil. I would imagine it to be similar as long as you (a) rinse the roots off really good, and (b) make sure the roots get through the net pot and into the water. This plant is very resilient and will come back from the dead (I've had a few I thought were toast) if you give them the chance. Try one out and if it survives, do the rest. Best of luck.
 
If not for plant limits and budget (and space) restrictions, I'd do just that with six of them to break in the new setup. Trouble is I've got about another three weeks before the current flower tent will be vacated and the "good" light board will be available. If I knew a grower nearby who could take them, I'd sacrifice six of those clones to someone else's grow right now!
 
UndergroundFarmer man, if things were different.... you're not in the New England states I assume, and then you’ve got all of those crossing state line laws...😉 I’d still suggest taking one and trying it versus tossing it out anyway if you’re unable to accommodate it
 
Luckily, not fifteen minutes after I posted, my wife let me know that she knows someone who can adopt half of them. We might just get to see how that coco to hydro transplant stuff works since the new setup will have six buckets.
 
We blessed our friends with a six-pack of clones today (two of each strain)! In about 3-4 weeks I'll have a chance to try out coco to hydro transplanting.

You might try a hybrid effort, cut the bottom out of the pot and let the roots grow down into the water, You would need to set the bottom of the pot in a shallow amount of water like 1 to 1.5 inches the coco should still be watered if there is not enough wicking to keep it wet also keep an eye on the water level as it may drop a lot at first as the pot draws water out.
