Topping helps control height, helps creates more and bigger bud. Along with LST and good defol technique you can create awesome plants. And yes they all love it. Also a good soil/perlite mix,fiber pots,quality nutrients,proper Ph. and some badass light doesn't hurt either. GWE.com lists over 500 Articles & Growing Tutorials. Lots of AHA moments in the reading. Feel free to ask questions.

I concur, I am a new grower and have figured out everything I am doing from this site pretty much. I tried fimming and topping my first grow and then found the article on quad-lining and for my send set of photos I am doing that system. This is fun to learn to control the plants.
