Timers?

My timer is set to 12/12, however it runs slow by a few secs everyday 7-7 is my light schedule and yesterday it flipped off at 5 I'm wondering if this speed up will eventually reveg the plants or if it will be just a rotating 12hrs and slightly weird plants?

Timers are cheap, why risk it? I would recommend replacing the 'slow' timer as soon as possible. I use a Blueprint Digital controller (around $10) and it works great. It is easy to set and to program. They even have one that has preset 12/12 an 18/6 timing cycles already set up.
 
Thank you for the correction and I've had this timer for a while on flowering and they haven't had much of an issue. In fact I'm thinking of experimenting with it because I think the speed up caused my flat stems
 
You might also have some interruptions of electrical service (minor delays in switching, etc..) at different times which will 'add up' to a substantial difference over a period of time. The digital timers have a built in battery backup to keep the correct time during an outage.
 
Losing a few seconds every day means both your light and dark periods are "a few seconds" / 2 seconds longer, and the switchovers get that much earlier each time. This means nothing to a plant. I don't think any of my timers are more accurate than that. I usually set the clocks when I adjust the photoperiod and they're off by a few minutes.
 
I had my exaust fan timer die on me some time during my light time plants suffered heat stress dump it replace and keep a extra one on hand just in case.peace
 
i'm running a Noma outdoor digital timer. cost around $20-25. only running LED's and fan to keep the leaves rustling so with its 15A rating it's sufficient. got my exhaust rigged to a thermostat on a separate circuit
 
I only use a timer on my vegging plants. I just don't trust myself enough to have a timer turn my lights on in the tent and me dummying up and forget to open it. 1000w HPS in a 4x4 tent. Good bye plants.
 
furrysparkle...a digital timer will always be more accurate than a mechanical one. I use a Woods timer similar to this one. More settings than anyone will ever use. Mine doesn't have the random on/off feature. They are well built, reliable and accurate. I only use it in the spring when I start my plants under lights. Every year I have to fool with it for an hour to figure out how to program it though.
