On my third my third grow. Photoperiods planted December 30. Pics from 3 weeks ago. Chocolate mint pics after defoliation and right before flip to flower. Chocolate Mint will be defoliated again at about 21 days of flowering. Plan on defoliating and flipping the unknown genetics plant to flower in a few days (2 plants).
The last picture is from today. These plants (Chocolate mint) are in a 3'x4' tent that usually has a wall to create separate 3x3 and 1x3 spaces. I was not expecting a 100% success rate for my first clones, but all 6 made it and are all thriving so I opened up the area and I am using the entire 3x4 area to flower, but my light spread is not sufficient. You can see in the last picture the plants on the right are not getting enough light. I am considering making a hanging fixture for some CFLs by drilling some holes in a board for some lamp sockets, then use some Y sockets to double the bulbs. As I am new to growing I wanted to ask for advice before doing that. Ideally I would also use this light in the 1x3 area for seedlings and small veg plants in the future.
Questions:
If I do build a fixture as described, how many lamp sockets should I use across this 1x3 foot area?
Any other suggestions to light this area?
