HNY GWE. Bruce Banner autos on day 28. Plant on right was fimmed day 18 and showed hairs day 22, she is bushing out nicely. Plant on left was the scraggly one, topped day 18 didn’t show hairs until day 25. Smell started a few days ago, yummy.

Happy 2021 y’all!
So today the Northern lights got plucked like a chicken (see pics). The two WW i did yesterday are doing much better than i expected. I might continue to use this 50/50 defoliating trick to see if it helps prevent plants from acting poopy after a defol.

Budgal its been a journey to get it all worked out and I'm still tweaking things ,this next run will have the same 2 strains but I used clones taken from the same plant,so it should be interesting

oldjarhead100 Sure thing. You will notice in the pic that the right side of the plant has been defoll’d and the left side is still very bushy.(not the best pic to show what i mean)
The theory is regarding turgor pressure in the plant....kinda like hydraulic pressure in a garden hose. Every time a leaf is plucked from a branch it causes leaks in the pressure of that branch like putting pinholes in the garden hose. Eventually too many holes in one hose (or in this case, branch) causes the turgor to drop in pressure leading to droopy leaves since they aren’t inflated with the hydraulic pressure. (These holes heal and close the leaks allowing the turgor to build up again in the damaged branches and the leaves soon return to normal)
By not doing any defol on half the plant should allow enough energy for the roots to keep pushing strong hydraulic pressure (and water/nutrients) into the branches/leaves/flowers of the branches that were damaged from a heavy defoliating. This way, the remaining leaves and the flower buds hopefully keep getting proper nutrients and water supply during the period that they would normally be droopy while the whole branch is trying to recover/heal itself.
I borrowed this theory from researching the commercial garden flower industry (non-cannabis flowers). I have noticed the WW i have been growing always get droopy when i do any defoliating since i was always plucking leaves 360° around the plant. Only doing one side, or half, of her seems to actually made a difference. One of the WW girls had no noticeable droopiness, while the other had very very minimal droop the next day.
All this is theory at the moment. I’m not in a position to do full side-by-side comparisons of different defol technics and their impact on cannabis plants, but from this one test i can say i did see the plants showed minimal (or none at all) negative impact from plucking leaves and dud bud sites.
I hope i explained it clearly. I’m a little foggy this morning. 😉

I know it’s a little late, but Merry Christmas and happy new year to everyone! Hope you all enjoyed the holiday with your family, and are keeping healthy and safe😊
it’s been a few minutes since my last update, as my last crop was finishing. I put 40 some autos into the flowering room, based on the breeders size expectations, and had a real cushy 2 weeks of staring at them until all the fun began...
I am at 58 days from seed on most of them now, a dozen or so are at 70 days, and I have plants ranging from 12 inches- 4.5 feet.
So much for purchasing known genetics so you can expect a set outcome😂😂😂
When I chop them down in a couple of weeks, I’ll get some pics of the different phenotypes for your amusement. I have a real carnival of mutants in there.
Ive been defoliating and removing branches every couple of days to keep decent air flow, and light penetration. In my spare time, I haul copious quantities of water down to the basement, which the ladies are drinking up at a rate of roughly 25 gallons a day.
i added a large humidifier which is removing 4 gallons of water from the air daily, and caused me my one major problem so far this grow.
i forgot to empty the run off bucket one morning, and it overflowed for 5 hours. Was a helluva lot of fun tearing up the plastic to get the laminate underneath dry, without removing the plants😂😂
All is well now in my floorless, not so contained room.
I’m just happy that the plants are basically healthy. I’ll be even happier when I go back to photos, which you have some control over.
A few pics of the jungle, as well as my vegging ladies, outgrowing their space as well, waiting for a turn under the big lights ☀ï¸

Nice plants, but my old back is aching thinking about hauling 25 gallons of water into the basement every day! Fortunately my basement has a door opening to the back yard. I can fill a plastic drum of RO water and use a dolly to move it back near my grow closet. There are times that even that gets my back acting up!

Yesterday i defol’d the 2nd half and realized part of the flaw in my thinking. IF all the big leaves and power is stripped from the 1st half, what is there to help with turgor when stripping the 2nd half? I only gave the plants one full light cycle before doing the 2nd half. I haven’t checked them yet today, so I’ll let you know how they look once i get out to check them.

Moved them from t5s to 1000Watt HPS about a week ago. Vegging fast under the HPS they’ve been through 3 toppings already going back in tmrw to do one of the final toppings and then the flip to 12/12. These are my last 3 Chemdawg#4s. I ran 2 of them my last crop and got a really good yield but also done great smoke, typical of the Chemdawg the flavour punches your mouth and the smoke is thick and mellow smooth on the inhale but grabs ur chest on the exhale and then comes the head rush almost immediately followed by munchies and relaxation. By far one of my favourites however Mrs.Wolfe420 isn’t a fan of the head rush she says it makes her almost dizzy and this is a big problem as my next 3 plants are also Chemdawg. Good news for her tho although it’s going to take time i sprouted 4 seeds each a diff kind (blueberry OG) (gelato) (dolato) & (strawberry cough cheese), the T5s I’m vegging with combined with the toppings really makes the growth slow so figured the next 10-11 weeks of veg topping them regularly will make for some big plants come flip.
