HYDRO This is a root question.

I am using DWC. Why are my roots growing like this?

It doesn't seem to be a rot problem, all the pots are put together with one sprinkling.

What's wrong?

The growth seems to be slowing down because the roots are not growing.

Hey Konepure, I'm assuming that both your plants are in the same stage of growth and share the same genetics. Did they both start from seed? Looks like one is doing extremely well (the yellowy picture) and the other is suffering?
I need more info to try and help you. Are all your pots attached together, like a recirculating system or are they separate? (what happens to one plant will happen to the others). I've sen recirculating systems churn out different root systems depending on the water flow and rate of exchange of EC.
I don't know what "one sprinkling" means? Are you using root stimulators nuts, like BioMass or Voodo Juice? Are your nuts being equally distributed. I guess the 1st big question is do you have a bubbler (air stone) in each pot. Where's your water level in relation to your net pot; it should be just touching the bottom. Are your PH and EC levels the same in each bucket? Lots of questions, but it's difficult to nail down without all the info.

Cheers,

The yellow photo is not mine. It is for reference only.

I'm using a General Hydroponics Trio, CaliMagic and Hydroguard.

There are two Air Stones installed.

I have five pots now, all look like weak roots.

The roots merge into one, and the thickness is not abundant. (that is not amount of roots? Sorry, Second language)

Thank you for your response.

Too much air? Is your air stone blaring out the O2 or is it gentle? It could be the strain… but most likely you killed off some root mass when you transplanted or you dried them out when your bucket was too low. You probably had the water to far away from your medium when you initially grew them. And or you’re using too much hydroguard… you have to be careful with that stuff. Trial and error my friend; trial and error…

Cheers,

I don't know what Trio is but other than that, I'm using the same nutrients. Hydroguard is fantastic, when needed, which is rarely. I only use one air stone but a strong pump, not sure it is the air but maybe switch to just one and see? Another thing, maybe it isn't a root problem? Could it be a light issue?

Don’t know how big of a air pump you are using but 2 stones seems like too much for a 5 gallon bucket I have 2 in a 10 gallon tote, it looks like the roots are being twirled into what you are seeing there by the water churning to me. There’s a lot of tubing run in there…what all you got in the bottom of the bucket? I would pull an air stone.
