I'm starting this thread to find strain characteristics and to find further reading from the community in breeding and good practices, techniques, etc. The characteristics I'm aiming for are high flower to leaf ratios, colored buds, exceptional flavor, and incredibly dense buds, or your personal favorite any and all research material is welcome!

Also any pages and articles that are really good for learning more about breeding and back breeding, so that I can get a great start! Thx guys!

I'm trying unsulphured mo. In small amounts every other treatment it's good for thr roots and soil, and in turn the buds!lol

I am a true newbee, but I would not over think it.....Go with some of the staples and experiment......That truly is how we can find different strains. and combinations that work very very very very very WELL.....

Then look for the book "green a field guide to marihuana" its a photographers book with houndreds of pictures of diferent strains with a little info about it and lineage. I got it for free online in PDF
 
In my last grow I used the unsulfered on some white widow,the same neuts, calmag tap water,as always. and yes I did a good thorough flush before harvest.Now I have about a half lb. of well cured weed that will knock your dick in the dirt. But it leaves a taste in your mouth kinda like a skunk crapped in it. I'm going back to au natural. Maybe I'll try some honey on one just to see.

I find the Cervantes book to be both outdated and over kill. Also his many pages of product recommendations are tiresome. Cannabis breading and cultivation are simple with modern techniques. His book does nothing to familiarize the reader with how a thing works rather it shamelessly panders to expensive and marginally usfull gardening gadgets while expecting the reader to simply obey his recipe. Anybody can combine strains, but to produce a stable geno/pheonotype that can produce offspring with % predictable characteristics is not something Cervantes does in his book.
 
Start by reading the works of Gregor Mendel. This is the very starting point and very useful for basic understanding of genetics.
 
Furry, the characteristics you are asking folks to assign to a particular strain(s) are pretty subjective. Different strokes for different folks kind of thing. However, im pretty sure you can surf enough sites to cobble together a list of likelys on your own in short order. That way you can be sure to be satisfied. 😉 One thing you might try, to get more responses, is to post a question regarding what strains are folks' favorites, and why. You might have more luck and the post would be fun for everyone. Good luck.....
 
Or if like Mendel you have lots of time you could just start recording your observations and go. Mendel grow tens of thousands of pea plants before theorizing about "particles" of inheritance c
