This happens in every grow (Hydro, Coco or DWC)

Hey Friends,

my young plants in hydro, here coco coir, feeding GHE Trio + CalMag under LED. This is a Gelato Auto by FastBuds.

Every time I grew the lower leafs where getting soft tips first, then yellow out and then get crisby. Its usually no taking over but I dont know why this happens. Specially coz the plant looks really healthy up to that point.

What are we looking at here?

Its a little difficult to see the color of the leaves as there is a purple hue. It could be nute burn or a deficiency but without knowing ph and stuff its hard to tell. Depending on how you are feeding and watering it could be nute lockout too. I cant give an answer but maybe these ideas help a little lol. Also it would help to know how old the plants are.

Alternatively, it could be the plant not needing that leaf for some reason. Typically lower leaves will die off first but usually that is during flowering. They do look healthy tho.

Aight guys, thanks for fast support!

Made a pic under natural light so hope you can see it better (me = colorblind guy).

I use osmosis water and feed with general hydroponics trio according to the dose recommended on GWE tutorials.
Checking ph, usually near 6.5 or under but I dont have a tool to check the mediums ph direktly. I do feed them with nutes every 2nd or 3rd watering and if I water without nutes I do still add CalMag. I didnt get lots of runoff in the first weeks as plants where really small and I didnt want to drain all the medium and gave only little water on top. Now I focus on gettin runoff the water to flush.

This automatic-plant has just finished 3rd week and it looks like also the next layer of leaves is starting to show signs, seems to cripple up quickly. Let me know what we do here.

Plant looks real good actually - no Hydroponics store nearby? Any places that services swimming pools? If so then they would have something to test ph - litmus paper at the least.

Thanks for the natural light photos. If you are growing in coco i would ph the incoming water/nutes to 6.0 not 6.5. You may be running into a phosphorous deficiency as in hydro/coco it needs something below 6.25 ph to be able to access it. check out this pic

Aight Canuk, I'm gonna get a solution to check mediums PH. Will need that for future projects anyway I guess. Prolly get something relieable on amazon.

I just checked runoff water - it was at PH 6.7

For the next waterings I'll go down in PH to meet all uptake zones as Tersky reminded with the Cheme.

If you dont mind, I will update this in case someone has a similar issue.

One thing, i wouldnt trust runoff in a fabric pot. I spent a grow chasing runoff and ruined my plant in the process. The thing that matters with coco is the water going in. I have found that in fabric pots the salts that accumulate on the outside make it difficult to ascertain the root zone ph. Once i stopped worrying about runoff and started focusing on getting my water/nutes that i put into the pot to around 6.0 i found all my ph issues went away. Just my experience.

I bought a pH tester for soil or soilless media. I use it on my plants in coco to test actual conditions at the root level. You basically push the probe in and give it a few seconds to stabilize. It saves much guesswork.

I had similar issues using coco with Canna A+B and found the nutes a little to strong especially for leaves that were blocked from light. I reduced the nutes by 1/5 and things have stopped. this was in the last week or so

Darroldo, indeed same symptom, following your suggestion and reduce my nutes and see what happens

Lill update: Did reduce feeding -25% of GWE Coco Coir schedule and gave pure water mainly (with CalMag bacause osmosis water). Also made sure there is plenty of runoff to flush. I PHed 5.8-6.0ish.
I cant say its a big change and obv a wilted leafe will stay a wilted leaf. The effect isnt stopping and the main leafes are getting crisb from the outside however plant is growing fast and the new growth looks healthy...
