Temperature

Hi,

I’ve posted before about crispy leaves. This might be the reason. I’m having a difficult time controlling the temperature. It’s always too hot. I’m growing in an AC Infinity 3 x 3’ tent with the grow light that was included with the tent kit. Today I tried raising the light as far to the top as possible. The temperature is even higher. I’m at 90° with 55% RH. I have an inline air vent, oscillating fan, humidifier, and light. When I first started the temperature was between 78° and 80°. Has anyone had similar problems? Thanks for your help.

Good question. Add more fans. I have 3 fans in each of my tents. You can open your tent flap some during lights on and your plants may enjoy that extra 02 also. I remove the ballasts on top of the grow lights and sit them on top of the tents; they create a lot of heat. good luck

Hello all. This post makes me want to know how other tent growers deal with what I call a fine line to walk when it comes to grow light energy and the heat that's generated from it and how you adjust to get good grow tent and leaf temps. I try to keep my tent temps <83 deg and leaf temps at 80 deg or a little less during lights on. Do you think this is acceptable or what should a person strive towards? If your grow tent and leaf temps are too high, do you dial down your grow lights if they are as high up as possible or do you supplement more oxygen? Do you adjust based on VPD calculation only. I think this is most always a concern of the newbies as it should be. I myself would like to hear what others do. Thanx

I have my exhaust fans run higher during lights on to kick out the extra heat and dial it down a few notches during lights off.

Where is your tent drawing fresh air from? That will paly a big role in the temps inside the tent. Example: my tents have a differential of about 6-7 degrees F from the room I have them in (lung room). If the lung room temp is 74 F the tent temp is going to be at least 82 F.

I run my lung room at 70-72. The tent temps remain in range. Can you lower the temps of the room or area where your tent is located? Is your tent's exhaust vented outdoors? If it vents into the lung room the heat that produces has to be accounted for.
