Surgery & Cannabis

It's been few weeks since my back surgery & I'm doing great. Some folks asked me to let them know how my experience was concerning cannabis & surgery... Honestly I was nervous going into this after reading up on cannabis & anesthesia. I have been off all narcotic meds since June & switched to medical marijuana. I know it's well documented in my files but I reminded EVERY person I spoke with that I used Marijuana and I asked each if was it safe for anesthesia? No one had an answer for me & each said they would find out. The day before surgery a nurse called with my time & I again asked, she said don't use it after midnight. Morning of surgery driving with my Dad, I told him if I died to sue. Once there I talked with the anesthesiologist finally, he was well aware of my use & it was listed in my chart. He told me I would be fine & I went in calmly as these were well respected Drs we have known & looked into. I trusted them when they told me I would be ok with anesthesia & I was. I did great! No problems going under or during. The hardest part was the pain on days 2 & 3 as I was trying to only use medical marijuana only but I failed. On nights 2 & 3 I took 1 very low dose pain pill so I could fall asleep. Otherwise I have been using ice packs & micro-dosing, getting better every day. All my Drs have been so supportive, it's not what I expected & I am so happy to be wrong 😊 ~ 🦃 Happy Turkey Day! 🍺🍗🍰 ~ ☮☮☮ to you & yours

Sorry, had to chuckle a bit...

As a result of a bunch of wear and tear compounded with smacking Bambi on my bike 3 years ago left me with a body held together with baling wire and wood screws. I was on narcotic pain management for my back 5 years before Bambi attacked. I have had multiple surgeries while using cannabis as an adjunct to narcotic pain meds with zero issues. Good on you for bringing it to the attention of your doctor.
