Welcome to my 3rd grow. I will doing a side by side with Hydro and Living soil. Still have a lot to learn but I though some of y'all might want to follow along. A wise man once told me to teach, so here we go. Hopefully someone will learn something along the way, including myself. I'll do my best to explain everything but if I miss something please feel free to speak up. This style of growing might not be for everyone but it's the direction I chose to best suit my situation. Buckle up and enjoy the ride it might get bumpy, I killed half the last grow. All plants will be trained using the BU2B PPP Method as close as possible. Soil is Great Lakes "just add water" in 7 gallon bags. Hydro is DWC with a little ebb and flow in 5 gallon buckets, 6 inch Rizocore net pots w/ clay pellets and 2 2inch air stones in each bucket. This will be a sealed grow raining Co2 from above. Exhaust and Intake fans will only be used if something comes up. I started a few weeks ago, so I'll do my best to get you caught up. Thanks for following along.

Smoklahoma thanks for doing this! It was our plan when we started the Purple Bubba grow. The nice thing is that they are coming from the same place, same training, same environment. EXCELLENT! I'll be following along with eager anticipation and watching the process unfold. Great choice of some tasty strains as well!

Seems I'm burning BB in soil a bit. Dropped lights to 350 ppfd over left side. Watered 1/2 gallon each. Hydro is at 1400 ppm on both sides. Not much happening right now. Couple days they get stripped.

It's all yours and tokas falt. Will be interesting for sure. Not sure about this soil thing, but it has been nice just adding water. Thanks for the encouragement.

This morning a couple hours before the lights went out. All the plants got stripped for training, except for runt bb that got topped at the 3rd node. Soil bb stretched quite a bit, but thats what I get for not transplanting. All the bb have long spacing between nodes compared to the cp. So far so good. 88° / 65%

This should have been posted last Tuesday which was week 5 day 3. I decided not to toss runt BB. Cut the ends off just for an experiment. Now it has 4 legs. Topped the ends of hydro BB and retied. Soil BB got retied , it seems stressed, might have over did it on the training? Hydro CP got the ends topped and retied. Soil CP got retied. Soil getting 1/2 gallon about every day and a half. Added AC Infinity temp and humidity monitors.

Today is week 6 day 1. I raised the lights to the top of the room before it gets to crowded for me to get to the back wall. Got to rig something with pulleys and winch so I can adjust from center of the room. Increased to 70% for a ppfd around 450. Untied everything for a couple days to stretch their legs abit. Topped off both reservoirs to 25 gal. Left side drank 12 gal, right side drank 7 gal. since last Sunday.

Week 6 day 5
Hydro BB is going wild. Moved soil BB over to CP side to give her more room. Still watering soil 1/2 gal each every two days. Got to do something about wild child. Maybe a net? I screwed up the training on her, made it too flat.
Average temp 89° / hum 65% / vpd 1.10
Co2 1300 ppm
Hydro ph 5.8-6.3 / 1400 ppm / temp 70°
Lights at 36 inches 70% = 530-580 ppfd

Well I said it might get bumpy. Got home from work last night and opened the door and I could smell hay! Stupid mistake ( I'm getting good at those). Life stuff got in the way of my normal routine. Guess hydro BB and runt BB got real thirsty this week and drank all 25 gallons of water out of the reservoir. Bone dry. I added water and cycled several times over next few hours trying to let them drink it up. Hopefully I can save them but not real optimistic at this point. Stupid is as stupid does! Water them down, they are resilient weeds, they will make it back, challenges, grow on...

The runt seemed to take it better than the big one. I'll see what they look like after work today. Fingers crossed 🤞

Stupid is as Stupid Does... HEY! I resemble that remark! always remember my friend, doing dumb stuff doesn't make you dumb, just human. It's why we make pencils with erasers. Best wishes for the girls. I think the reason we are all so good at 'stupid' mistakes is because the smart mistakes - we obviously meant to do and therefore aren't mistakes at all! lol

This is her 24 hrs later. Looks toast to me! Runt seems to be pulling thru. Maybe the wild child could make it if nursed it along for a few weeks?
I decided to cut my losses and concentrate on the rest of the ladies that are alive and move forward. Im real good at kicking myself in the ass for doing dumb stuff. Not so good at patting myself on the back when doing it right. Live and learn.

Total bummer dude. Time to clean it up and start over. The bright side is that you will never do that again...
