If you don't need a light for germanization perhaps ask the giver if it can be returned and then shop for a grow light together.

Depends on space and plant count. Veg doesn't take alot of light. You'll probably eventually want a upgrade. Lights are one of the hardest purchases as there are so many options with few being quality. As light says it's for clones. Clones need even less than veg.
