Suggestions on rosin presses

Smoklahoma

I've been kicking around the idea of buying a rosin press. Wondering if any of you folks have one, and if so, do you like it? Looking for a way to extract some products to use for dabbing and making edibles. The solventless extraction looks like it produces a cleaner product as opposed to alcohol extraction for rso oil. Any suggestions and advice are much appreciated.

Puglover1 the mini is a good starting point option. About half the price of the OG but also 1/2 of the press bag quantity, but small enough to be portable. I almost went for the mini then saw the OG up close and personal and my penny jar still has a ways to go. No matter which brand you settle on Smoklahoma I think for solvent-less concentrates getting a press just makes good sense both for the product and the price. 6 grams of shatter runs about $100 (or around $20 a gram) - a press will pay for itself rather quickly once you've saved up the bucks for the initial investment.

This is my rosin press lol :joy:

When you are done pressing, do you process what is left in the bag to try and recover residuals or is there not enough to bother with?

Might be able to freeze the flattened bags. Shake them in some everclear to get any that's left on the bags. ? I bet we find out in the end.

The dulytek retrofit has some decent reviews. Caged plate set for up to 20 ton H frame shop press. About equal size plates as the nugsmasher pro. But the OG is looking pretty good.

I read this comment this morning and thought you said the pro. $$$$. Looking better now that I reread this. The OG might be doable.

Wouldn't that defeat the purpose if you wanted it to dab? I figured I'd decarb in my little Pyrex jars while adding thinner to make it syringe viscosity for cooking.

After looking at all the presses available out there, I am going to build my own. My machinist brain really gets off on building things. It will probably be a little bigger than what I need but you never know. Already received the 30 ton bottle Jack, 4x7 plates should arrive today. Scrounging around work for some scrap metal to build the frame. Hoping to put this thing together for $500.

I love building things myself and have a question for ya. How do you plan to heat the plates and control the temperature of the heat?

I wish I had enough knowledge and patience to build the electronics myself but know nothing about circuit boards and such. I bought the dabpress 4x7 uncaged set that comes with the controller, elements, and plates. All the caged sets I found didn't seen to open very far.

Y'all probably figured out by now that I am a dabber. I only have a dab rig. My dog's name is Dabber. I blast my own wax.
Rosin is my least favorite thing to dab. To me, it's harsh and tastes like hash and smells like burning. My banger gets real dirty after one dab of rosin.
That being said, the best rosin is not made with bud. For the best product, press hash. The press temperature can be done at high temperatures that will decarb. A little research says dry sift can be pressed at 150-190°. Way below decarb temperatures.
