Stress re: plants

I`ve a question: If you de-fol regularly and constantly up to the last couple weeks fore harvest and then stop, do you stress the plant out and do more damage by stopping than just keep going along. Obviously, this is a question for advocates of robust defoliating and is not a discussion upon the merits or not of chopping limbs and asunder off
