In CA we can now gift up to an ounce. This said, I'm not sure how that translates to edibles, oils, tinctures etc. Gonna take a long time to get all the regulations I think.

In Cali it depends on if you're in possession at home or on the street. The gift really doesn't matter if it's a gift. You can't exchange any type of money for any type of reason!!! You can't sell it without an license.

I have read that law100 times. Dunno. If you read the stuff they put in about taxing and giving among medical coops this law gets muddy fast for me.
