Started new grow...

Yes, I'm quite pleased how things are going. Can't wait till those little hairs start popping. This is the first grow I did lst and topped at 12". I really tried to control growth this time. I even lollipopped them (which made me nervous as fu@k cutting on them). So, hopefully I get some decent size nuggs. Fingers crossed.....:D
 
11 days since flip. Temp 67f, 55 rh, 1.0 kpa. Everything else the same.

I forgot to add this. The plant on the left is taking 1 gallon every 48 hours, while the plant on the right is every 72 hours now. I think it has to to do with airflow. My oscillating fan is drying out the one on the left faster than the one on the right. No big deal, but now can't go by time, have to go by knuckle test.
 
24 days since flip, about 14 days flowering. Everything is the same. Been sick so haven't been here in a while.

Looking like a really good yield keep it up, cruze control. Sorry about the sickies, i been on a steriod for the first time for bronchitisis first time using that but it's helped and musinex. Hope your feeling better.
 
I was positive for covid. I've been like a recluse for the last week. I didn't even want to take care of them but stuck it out. Got sick on Monday and just today was able to go get some milk and groceries. Hot, cold flashes. No sleep. Water running from nose. Wanting to sneeze but it don't come. Yeah, it has sucked.
 
30 days since flip. No more nutes. Straight water from here on out. Watering is slowing. Every 72 hours now. Took a couple pics through window. Just starting to fatten up. One on left is winning. She's gonna finish first.

How come you don't feed till nearer to harvest? I also quit feeding bloom nutes about the last 2wks some folks feed all the way till harvest.
 
Cause I want natural senescence to take place. There are plenty of nutrients still in the soil and in the leaves that there is no need for nutrients now. It would be over kill.
 
"In order for ganja to reach its ultimate potential quality, the plants must be cut off from food and thoroughly flushed with clean water for several weeks or more before harvest. Of course this step is much more important when harsh chemical fertilizers are used than with organics. But if ultimate quality is to be reached it is necessary with any setup. The amount of flush time varies depending on the situation, but I generally recommend stopping all feeding and switching to pure water approximately one month before harvest. This timing can be shortened for indoor plants or lengthened for outdoor plants, depending on container size, the fertilizers used, the strains grown, and a number of other things. This gives the plant time to finish all remaining food, and the leaves will then start changing colors and the plant yellowing. Yes, you might be able to crank out another few grams or so by feeding them up to the end or close to it, but we are going for ultimate quality here, not quantity."

I read the article. I'm somewhat skeptical. I wish the author had some side by side studies to back up his claims.

I'm at day 65 of flower. Both of my strains have a listed flower time of 8-9 weeks.
I'm going to blow past that. I still have alot of clear tricomes and zero amber.

GWE recommends not flushing until right before the harvest window. I have dropped nute strength to 1/3.

I'm interested to see the conclusion of your grow. I hope it works out!
 
I'm not really flushing. My soil has plenty of life left in it. It's not like they are getting zero nutes. I'm just not supplementing anymore. I wouldn't call it "flushing." I'm just watering it like you would any other plant. No need for the EXTRA nutrients right now. My soil was hot enough to begin with. I just added Terp Tea as a little boost during first half of flowering. You can grow cannabis in water only soil up until harvest with zero supplements if it's properly balanced. Coir is different, but a decent soil will make it all the way.
 
"Flushing" and not supplementing are 2 way different things....Remember, I'm growing on a very nutrient rich soil. ..
 
Radeon - I read this post earlier was basically going to say just as you said in your last posts. I too am growing in good soil so I’m a believer in stopping the feed in advance so the ladies can use up whats left in the soil and start pulling from their biomass reserves if timed right. I’m not going “flush” or rinse my soil clean though. There are quite a few comparison studies and taste tests etc out there. Personally, I will wait until I seem some amber trichs then go with straight water. Then dry, then water, then dry, then Yank! They’re going to tell me when. I did read that flushing too early can reduce mass since they bulk up quite a bit at the ending 3-4 weeks prior to harvest and need those last nutes from the soil. If the grower is in a different medium, makes sense it could different needs and timing. Let us know how it goes and what your honest opinion is. I’d love to know. Cheers, and happy harvest daze!
 
Yeap. Will do. I agree 100%. I won't flush or rinse either. I'll just water as normal with water and let them do their thing. There is enough nutrients left in that soil to get them through. Also, all the sugar and fans just sitting there with reserves just waiting to be tapped. They'll let me know when it's time. As of right now, just cause I'm watering with no supplements doesn't mean they starving. They have plenty of food available.
 
Flushing is, to me, giving the plant water only and letting it naturally eat what it wants in the soil and in its fan and sugar leaves to finish its life's goal. No need for my intervention. Just let the plant age naturally. By the time it's done, it finished on its own. The way nature intended. Kinda like I got you this far, you on your own now.

Another version of flushing is over watering till runoff to leach the medium. Not what I'm doing. I'm just letting the plant take charge of its own death....
