Solar Light Tubes

Does anyone have any experience with these? My neighbours did some home reno work and installed a solar light tube, then replaced it with a sky light a few weeks later. I talked to him a couple of days ago and asked why they opted for the skylight instead of solar tube.? He said it was WAY too bright during the day..:speechless: So then i googled them and apparently they dont transfer heat into the lighted space..? Could be perfect for shed,garage,attic grows where heat is an issue. anybody have them in their house for natural lighting?

My brother in law and wife are building a new home they put in a solar tube in master bath. We saw it during the day so don't know how it is evening. I really didn't pay to much attention to the brightness. But I wouldn't put it in a grow room unless you could shade it somehow?
