Solar Cooking: Green Dragon Hash Oil Experiment Gone Awry

After a successful first try, with hash oil production, I have stumbled. I used 150 proof Everclear for the first batch, 190 proof for my latest effort.

While I remain convinced that solar cooking is great for producing hash oil, there is at least one caveat.

I left the concoction in probably too long. The temperature remained at or below 200 degrees F. I now have an extremely thin layer of cannabis remains baked on my baking pan. I tossed the pan in my deep freeze, thinking I will see if condensation will help release it from the pan. I would also like to figure out how to fashion bits of it into ready-made chick pea sized pellets.

Will I be succesful? Who knows! I have been fascinated with @Farmbucks contributions, regarding hash. This is my way of giving back, even if it shows my goofs.

Keep your fingers crossed boys and girls - I either have some of the most potent hash ever made or utter garbage.

An update. I took the pan out of my freezer, the layer was still stuck like glue. I poured more Everclear into the pan, gently stirred it and Viola, I was back in business! I then put my solar oven back out, with the mixture, this was mid afternoon. Since Fall is making it's presence known, the stuff wasn't completely reduced when I brought it back in a few hours later. I simply tilted the little dish and let it sit overnight. It's somehow thickened up and will be ready probably today.

I am hoping that this batch is better than my first. While sufficiently potent, it tasted like the vape plugs I'd included with the larf buds and trim - yuck! If it still tastes not good, by golly I will still use it...as long as the potency is still there.

I'll let y'all know whether I am successful or not as soon as I know.

How did it come out? My comment is 200* F may be to hot (as in boiling), the evaporating alcohol may take some THC with it.

At this moment, I have it sitting in my fridge. My first couple of samples seem to corroborate your comment. It has a semi thick consistency. Not like the "accidental shatter" I made with my first batch.

I won't be sampling any more, until after my annual VA appointment. Plus, I also like to "dry out" every now and then. I have an addictive personality and try to be mindful.

I still have a full jar of my trim/larf buds. Unfortunately I'm not getting much Sun these days. I'll probably be doing the dry ice sift...

After my appointment next month, I'll update this thread. Thanks for asking!!!
