Smart pots?

I got 4 five gal. Smart pot from Santa, never used before do you still put drainage material in bottom? I hear thay use more water ?any other tricks I should know about before filling? Any help or opinions couldent hurt thanks.peace

Nice gift you got there Potted! I have always used the same size smartpots, and love them for both indoor and outdoor grows. They don't need drainage material...excess water will drip out no problems. Just remember they tend to dry out quicker than plastic pots, so pay attention to maintaining sufficient water. Love their ability to allow air to roots...which grow right to edge without circling. You'll love them too! 😊

Just make sure you put under a big enough tray or dish to catch runoff water and make sure they don't stay sitting in water for long periods.
