Small yield

Community, I have 2 autos (Northern Lights). They were planted about the first week in October. 5 gal fabric pots, coco coir, perlite, vermiculite. 2x2 vivosun tent, GH trio/ calmag, SF-G3000. Feed nutes once a week and plain water in between. I did defoliate. My plants look healthy but, I have a feeling come harvest, my yield is going to be small and small buds. Any advice?

It sounds like you are doing everything right. Genetics' are what they are and it really is too early to begin to guess your yield. I have two suggestions: Add about one tablespoon of unsulfured black strap molasses per gallon of water including on your plain water days. The second is to increase your light slightly. I see no evidence of too much light so I would give them some more either by intensity or height.
 
Where did you get the seeds? Have you grown autos? Why defoliate? When did you defoliate? What has been your light schedule?
I am still learning nuances of autos and want to watch folks who might be struggling.
Boy. That sounds bad. I learn more from making mistakes than not making mistakes.
 
Seeds are from Seed Supreme. First time grower and I defoliate so light will get to the lowest part of the plant and getting rid of the fan leaves will help the plant concentrate more of it's energy in the flower/buds. My light schedule is 20-4.
 
OMG,
the molasses are not just regular otc molasses I'm assuming. If not where can I get it. Also, I raised my light and increased the intensity from approximately 20% to 40%. With the increased intensity, should I be concerned about PPFD and DLI?
 
How far away is the light now? Before you had it at 12" from the top of your plants. Don't remove anymore leaves. Once these autos get messed with at the wrong time ie: defoliate to early or placed into a big container it takes them more time to develop their root mass. Who knows maybe they'll produce decent buds but forsure it's gonna be a longer grow so don't think it's just a few weeks cause the breeder said or your friend said.
 
Folks are torn about defoliating autos. The plant needs all it's resources in it's short life.
You are growing in coco, watering between nutes. I grow in coco and give full nutes after the first set of real leaves show up. No plain watering.
If you have the option, try growing feminized, next. Autos don't have a lot of time to recover from things like nute issues, bugs, and topping.
 
Unsulferated molasses good you raised your light and it should be near 100% during flowering that's how most do it unless you got it too close.
 
SoOrbudgal, yeah my light is about 12" from my canopy. So, should I raise my light to the upper most part of my tent and increase the intensity to 100%?
 
Gingerbread, this is my first grow, so I was led to believe that defoliating was a good thing. Even for autos. Yeah I had planned to do something different for my next grow and I was looking at feminized. So you feed yours nutes up to harvest and flush right before?
 
I've flushed. I've fed-to-harvest. I've let the roots dry. Honestly, I don't know a difference in the end.
There's defoliation and there's defoliation.​ You can do a whole plant thing or only remove what you see is blocking light or is too far from the light, regardless of defoliation
 
Up until a few weeks ago I was under the impression that auto's were small form only plants but on another site I frequent they're growing 5 -6 foot autos!!!

I'm not sure what they're doing but they definitely got me to rethink my aversion to auto seeds.
