I bought one and it works. Small enough for a tent. Powerful enough for your lung room. Everyone selling it for $200 but here for $110.

well, it has a tiny tank but I'll set it up for collecting water in a pail. Ironically, today I have to run the humidifier.

I have a 50 pint dehumidifier: when it's really humid weather, I have to dump the reservoir twice a day, so you can expect to have to empty it more frequently if your humidity's high.
 
This one is all machine with only a 6"x8" footprint. The water goes into a 4 pint (half gallon) tank so at full operation it might possibly take five empties a day! A hose for continuous drain is included. I'll eventually set it up that way. The selling point to me was the lower power utilization.

Bought one a little bigger than the one you posted for $130 when they were having a prime deal going on. It's a 50 pint with drain hose. I drain my condensate into my reservoir. Free RO.
 
It ain't. I've been running condensate for these last 2 grows. 1st time I ran it like that I was gone for 6 weeks and let the dehu refill the res tank for the auto feeder. In fact I broke my single plant dry weight record so whatever is in the water is helping but I tested it at my local lab thinking the same thing and it came up with zero. Maybe some manufacturers use corrosive metals that come in contact with the water but mine comes up as zero. Makes for a nice contained system that only needs to be topped off every few weeks.

Condensate water is extremely corrosive and will strip sacrificial protective coatings in short time. If you have any metal in your system (eg. Cast iron or copper pipes) inc waste it won't be there for long.

It also has a biological oxygen demand often 50 times higher than what is considered acceptable for drinking water and often a very high E.Coli count.

But you can water plants with it
 
Yes. You can. I test my weed as I have the luxury of having a friend that owns a lab. I test each grow and, so far, no appreciable metals or harmful inputs detected. Humi has been operating for the last 2 years almost constantly so whatever coatings that were exposed that would do what you say seem to not have affected the plants or leached into the plant tissue.

If you feel using condensate provides too much risk then don't use it. My experience has been different. I've been told by others the same thing but actual testing has shown, at least in my situation, that is not the case.
 
I have to run a dehumidifier in my old stone foundation cellar. Things get musty and moldy if I don't. It pumps out at least a couple of gallons of water a day. I use the water on my house plants and have not had any issues but, not sure I want to give to my girls.
I really like the sound of use to refill the auto feeder....
Might have to run a test.
