Slow growth 1st timer.

Plants look real good Lukeb523 - if your fimmed plants leaves weren't cut off low enough, they will just grow up looking like half a leaf. Not to worry - if you fimmed properly and cut low enough, they those cut leaves should turn into branches. They won't die off.

As for the sun - use it whenever you can. I do and it's fun taking them out of the tent - you get a better look at them. Just as long as the outside temperature is around the same temperature as your tent. Don't want to shock them.

Canuck147 if you look down to bottom of page 1 you can see a picture of when the plant was first FIMd few days ago. Would you say from looking at my recent pic and the leaf growth that I didn’t cut low enough or should I hold out a few more days see what comes through?
 
Thanks that’s helpful because I did presume the leaves shouldn’t be growing out again but only know if you ask.
dilvish you say you haven’t fimmed that early before because there’s no need....if the plants capable from an earlier age what’s the advantage of waiting longer before FIMing?

I guess in your case you're jumping ahead of yourself. Right now you should be focusing on the health and growth of the plants. FIMing assumes you already know what you are doing but as a newb I suggest you just let nature do it's thing and as the plants grow larger, opt to train them instead. Training is easier and there is no way you can shock the plant (unless you bend them way too far). Baby steps and patience and you will get a decent harvest
 
I can’t really make sense of that other than I shouldn’t be doing it because I’m a newb.
Surely the reason for waiting before training as you say is to have a healthy growing plant first. But if you do train early and the health and growth doesn’t slow down Are you saying there’s still a good chance the plant will have problems in flowering stage?
I’m struggling to understand the advantages of letting a plant put efforts into growth that’s going to be eventually cut off anyway?
ive seen a lot of people train from what they call seedling stage so just curious

For plants that may grow for a half of a year before harvest it really isn't much you're chopping. Much more relevant is the root structure that a 6-week plant has vs a 3-week one. There is the real deal. If you have a vigorous plant and a healthy substructure as it were at ~ 5 to 6 weeks the root zone should be filling in and topping or fimming or whatever mad scientist things you (we) try it is better to take it in stride and just keep on keepin' on.
 
I think what you are doing is trying to force better growth when you appear to lack the knowledge of what to do and what to expect. reading some article and then performing the procedure can work but typically it is for growers who know what they are doing and what to expect. I guess what I am trying to say is if the plants are growing fine, just leave them be and stop trying to force better growth or more growth when you lack the experience to do so. You may end up stunting their growth or killing them if you don't have the proper experience...just relax and carry on.
As far as training the plants the reason many growers do it is because typically cannabis grows like a christmas tree...straight up. Because indoor grows don't have lights that move around the plant like the sun does, most flowers end up on top and flowers near the bottom don't get enough light. Training the plant forces it to grow out more like a bush...wider growth but shorter height means more flowers will get more light and denser as they mature. Buds (flowers) are what you want. Fan leaves can be smoked too but the contain only minor amounts of THC/CBD and are much harsher to consume. Buds are what you want...the more the merrier!!

I see your points and do have one plant that is just being slightly bent over. Maybe I got lucky that the plants don’t seem to have stressed much (yet)
Tbh the reason I’m doing it isn’t for more yield or because Im trying to force growth infact the complete opposite. I like to experiment and I figure seen as it’s my first ever grow I can learn a lot and stick to a programme that suits my environment once I’ve tried different styles. Not to mention it’s exciting and fun !

So are you expecting my plants to not grow as well as they could from now and produce little amounts of bud with low potency because of the procedures they have been through too early?
 
Canuck147 that was uncalled for. Telling the OP to ignore somebody is rude. They are here for opinions from all growers and to suggest that they not listen is just plain ignorant.
I for one offered advice and didn't tell the OP to ignore anyone. Yes it is their plant and they can do what they want with it I agree....hell I'm sure everyone agrees but to tell them to dismiss one person over another is just arrogant presumption.
 
One week on from training the plants , so far so good. Still waiting for my viparspectra to arrive though , in need of it! New growth has been faster than previous but seems to have slowed down and from what I’m being told I’m hoping that will be solved with my new light.

let me know what you think , I took all the deformed leaves off my lemon cake and layed her back chilling in the light 😂

Plants look good - can't remember if you are feeding any cal/mag supplements? If not they could use some - make em a darker green.
Third pic - does she need help standing? Or just growing a bit sideways - I've had a few start out sideways.
Don't worry about the deformed leaves from you fimming attempt - just let them grow in.
 
They’re only having small amount of formulex at moment. It covers cal and nitrogen. No mag tho? Formulex say it’s for early growth do you have any recommendations for later veg stage in terms of nutrient feed?
No I tied that plant down over to the side to get more light to the new growth. I’m still waiting for my full spectrum light to arrive 😔 So figured While I’m waiting il make the most of my CFLs .
 
My advice (as a novice also) is focus on just trying to make these plants as good and healthy as you can if it’s your first grow. You will learn way more from your mistakes first time around which will mean bigger and better yields for years to come. My motto on my first plants was, if I can grow ANYTHING that I can smoke it’s a success. We all want the huge big frosty buds and be able to train plants like a pro but it’s never gonna happen on your first grow. Good luck anyway

personally I’m not growing for big yields or huge big frosty buds because I’m realistic as a first timer.
as you say I will learn way more from my mistakes, so why wait to make the mistakes. Why not identify what is and what isn’t possible then focus on the big yields and huge frosty buds.

everyone seems to have a different opinion and I figure that’s because they all do it their own way in their own unique environment. I’m finding my way.
as you say anything I can smoke will be a start.
I hope I have all the time in the world so I’m in no rush.
it’s just fun. I don’t claim to be a pro and I have no intentions of ever claiming myself as a pro.
 
I wouldn’t say they look unhealthy, perhaps a bit light in colour. If you’re growing in coco then CalMag will sort that out. IMO I would’ve left them to get a bit bigger and stronger before topping or fiming as the stem still looks pretty young.
