Simply Kush

75°+ and 75%+ humidity. Sticky standing around weather.
Started hanging two Wednesdays ago, finished up last Saturday. Started trimming on the former. Got my 220-micron bubble bag in a 5-gallon bucket lined with parchment paper. That's what I trim over since it's all going to wind up in there, anyway. A few of the tops are getting put aside for gifts.
All my bitches, gripes, and complaints about this grow, it gets a 10 for the smell if you like gasoline. I have to back away from my bucket every little bit because the smell is overpowering. Defoliation was piney. Trimming is all gas. Chewing a little nug burns the mouth like gas.
A use for the stems is stirring the dope in the bag for dry sifting.

Trim jail. Ain't so bad if you ain't looking for pretty nugs.
Preliminary smoke report is mellow. Real mellow. Gassy. Doesn't clog the grinder and stays lit in the bowl so I know it's dry.

Ooh! They're magical. Absolutely magical! First time I went I was so nervous. More dope than I'd ever seen and SHBT's. Mindless, vapid, SHBT's.

To talk return percentages would be a buzzkill, so I won't talk about it. I knew this grow was sub-par and am telling myself to be happy with what I get. The shit side of this is I rely on my grows to offset finances every so often. Do something special. My vet's office got bought and the prices have tripled since Dabber's last checkup. What money I would have spent at the dispensary from this grow just went to the vet. The grow is so small I'm probably going to forgo further processing of all but the small nugs and larf. Looks like a month of actual smoking dope. Damnit. Y'all know how I feel about smoking dope.
The square is 220 dry sift. The circle is that flower, frozen, crushed, and dry sifted through a 120 micron bag. 120 is more stalks than trichome, it seems. The trident is from one of the plants and what I worked the flower with. The flower is sitting in the freezer until I figure out what to do with it. I still have some 200% ethanol that might go for a quick wash.

I am bemused.
Dispensary 'unpressed hash' stays unpressed even with a little finger heat and pressure in parchment paper. I use a small measuring spoon to fill a bowl with it because it is so loose.
What got poured loosely and gently tapped into the square has turned into a fair solid mass that has to be dug at. It's like it all melted together.

A quick finger squeeze in parchment paper and I now have a piece of hard taffy. Smoothe, earthy taffy that hits the head like resin doesn't.

After further agitations the numbers still suck, but it is what it is: 120 grams got me 6 grams of technical hash. The first gram and a half are shown above. They are the creme of the crop. They have morphed into quasi-pull-n-snap. Subsequent grams started picking up the green and I got the nod to call it done.
The subsequent greens got gathered up in a pollen press and submerged in hot water to smush it all together.
The creme bubbles in the bowl and hardens before smouldering and turning to ash. The subsequent green smoulders from the get-go and is hard to put out.
The front two plants are still hanging. They have more nugs and less larf so the return should be better. The first run of all the next will be in a 120-micron bag, unfrozen for more of that creme.
Don't look too close at the picture. Those hairs are not supposed to be there. Between the open doors, Dabber, and myself, errant hairs are unavoidable.

That return is not that far off the mark. I usually land around 8% when I make IWH.
Somewhere between 5-10% is to be expected

My expectation is a holdover from blasting where I expected at least 12% return.
Still and all, I'm happy with the product.

Final update, I think.
250 grams of flower beat down to 9 grams of kief. These last grams I just took hardened in the jar in an hour. Don't know what's up with that. Maybe plant matter?
It's going to have to cool and humidity off before I try another grow. For harvested grows, 250 grams is pretty horrible when you consider that's pretty much the whole harvest, trim included.
But, to end on a positive, it's a fine 9-gram haul! I can't imagine an easier, faster, or cleaner process. And it's a mighty fine smoke!

Last update: The smoke report.
Down to the last gramish. This is not something to smoke if you want to do anything in the day. One hit is relaxing. Two hits make the couch super comfy. Three hits and it's nap time.
It's my 55th birthday and I'm determined to finish it off. Gonna be a lazy, dope smoking, nap taking day. Dabber's cool with it because she'll get to put her head on my lap all day.
