frist time grower would a jewelers loupe or magnifying glass be good enough to check the tricomes for the right levels of thc or would it be well worth it to buy a good digtal miroscope

Loupes will work fine, I think min is 60x

There's also little hand held scopes with like a 60x-100x range

The issue with these are small viewing area and getting to the buds sometimes, I don't bend as well these days, lol.

The digitals are nice because you can usually get good pics etc with them. Keep in mind they are corded, so getting it to the plants can be an issue, and if you don't have a tripod or the scopes won't mount holding it still can be a bitch. Many do come with a little stand and exam tray but getting it where you want can be difficult.

they'll all work fine.

I bought a little micro mag that fits on my I phone. It was only $9 at my local hydro store. Very hard to use in the field but works great on cut buds and makes great pictures.

I bought me a 30X/60X LED Lighted Illuminated Jewelers Eye Loupe a couple of years ago at Amazon for about $11. Never needed anything else to check my trichomes and/or leaves for deficiencies and such. The LED on it is really helpful. I also got me a cheap magnifying glass down at the dollar store for quick checkups.

Something you may want to consider is this little gizmo: http://www.amscope.com/200x-2mp-8-le...xoCGWYQAvD_BwE

I have never used it and don't know anything about it, but it's $27.38 for a 200x digital magnifier via USB. Take your laptop out to your grow, hook it up via USB and boom-200x zoom still pics! It also has a built in 8-LED light, and a stand.

Hey Jak, Something I'm quite happy with is xcsource on Amazon twenty bucks. 20x800 digital microscope. It takes some practice but seems worth it to me

I bought a digital microscope, but it's a cheapo and real hard to focus. I'm happiest with this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EXPWU8S/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's way cheaper than other triplet loupes of the same quality, and it works great. Solid metal casing, made in Belarus. This was around the 6th magnification gizmo I bought on Amazon; the cheap junk just isn't worth it, and the loupes may be advertised as 30 & 60x, but they aren't always. Cheap crap from China.

That looks just like the one I linked but with a different name and cheaper, lol. Nice to see some photos from it! :) All they show on the product page is a quarter and human hair up close. Nice looking photos with it! I am so buying one now!
