Should I have moved my germinated seeds directly into their final pot?

I grew my 1st(a pair) autos this season. After germination, I moved them to about a half gallon pot, then to the final 2gal pots. Should their final pot size have been larger. I could put my next autos of the same AMS SUPREME auto seeds in these 7gal fabric bag with something like only 4 gallons of soil. The seed bank says my plants should reach 35 inches indoors. They only reached an average of ~26 inches and ~33 inches. I'm afraid I forgot to measure their final height at harvest time.

I will still look at root structure to see if the roots became root bound, but I can't go to check on them, just now. And I can't wait to start a dialogue on this subject.

Thanks, Captain.....I will use my fabric pots with the remaining same seeds with 4-5 gallons of same soil with some vermiculite mixed in. I am wondering if I even need to add that vermiculite in with my FOX FARMS Happy Frog soil, since my pots are breathable fabric.

Never used vermiculite??
only used Leca air stones. If it’s the same as perlite, yea you should use it. Always leca or perlite in the soil mix.
