NebulaHaze , I just read this week's newsletter about automatic watering systems. Why are you showing the use of CLEAR tubing and then say to cover up the reservoir? The water inside of the tubing is exposed to the grow lights and algae (as well as other bad stuff) can start to grow in the tubing! Not to mention, the clear tubing, itself. can 'channel' the light into the rest of the system. Opaque tubing should be used, only, on all lines, air and water to prevent problems from algae and root rot. The fittings (elbows, tees, plugs, and spikes) are inexpensive and generally available at most home and garden supply stores in the drip irrigation supply areas. The clear tubing maybe ok for 'organic' soil grows (the dirt is full of microbes and stuff anyway) but for hydroponic growing (I include coco in the class of hydroponic because it is basically hydro with 'filler' in the reservoir) but even with soil grows, the algae is not good as it can clog up the system as well as use up some of the nutriments meant for the plants.
