Seedling Troubleshooting

So I got some seeds planted and one tried to breakthrough the soil, but that was about maybe 2 or 3 days ago. It's pretty much still in the same spot and it looked like it wanted to crack but before it did it started bending over, what should I do? It's in a moist starter cube in a tent thats ~75 degrees and 50% humidity, thanks.
 
I would say gently help it but i did that once and killed the sprout cause im a little klutzy. It's possible it just needs a couple more days. How long since it germination?
 
So if it's trying to break through, it should have already cracked the shell and the taproot is trying to push. This is the most delicate part of the germination process.

It's in a starter cube though but it's breaking through soil? i'm confused....

If it's popped out of the cube and still has the helmet (seed shell) on it, you can fix that.

Spray the seed shell with PH adjusted, room temp water (I use distilled). Let it sit for a few minutes to let the water soak in. Grab some tweezers and gently tug on the seed shell. Lots of times you can pull on one side of the cracked shell and get it to split, leaving half the shell on the other side which then slides right off.
 
Yeah, it broke through and still has the shell on. The first leaves are trying to come through but just barely not making it.
 
I've helped my seedlings along several times as described by Nugs, and they responded (or maybe they would have without intervention). Seed germinating can definitely cause lots of concern for many...just another lesson in patience that gardening teaches! 🌱🌱 Good luck! 🌻
 
Yup... try my technique. You need semi steady hands but it's easy, IMO. Let the water soak in, up to 15 minutes before it completely soaks in. This will loosen it up.

Give it a try, if you feel like you're going to pull it out of the plug, try again in an hour.

It works for me, at least....

PS. make sure you get setup appropriately. In a chair, with a table in front of you, elbows steadied by the table, etc. Don't try this leaned over in your garden, fully extended and shaking like a leaf....
 
So when I went to wet it, I saw that there were little white hairs on the tap root, like fuzz. Is this mold? My seedling hasn't grown at all hardly in 2 days and the same thing happened to a few other seeds, and it stunted their growth. If so, how do I get rid of it? It seems to be killing all my seeds :(

Yes, even though the seedling struggles to get the monkey off it's back, the roots are still developing and growing, which is the most important part. You definitely want to get it photosynthesizing soon though.

Fuzz is good. That's all the little hairs that soak up water/nutrients. Can you take a pic?

Yeah Royal, I can't take a picture right now but that's what it looked like. I just got worried because I planted probably 3-4 days ago and it just stopped growing
 
When did you plant them in the plugs? Your environment sounds ideal. Are you using filtered water? tap? distilled?

Pictures would help a lot...
 
I know, my girlfriend has my phone atm so I can't take any pictures. But yeah I planted them several days ago, no more than I would say 5 though. The starter cubes are moist but not soaking with a humidity of anywhere from 45-55% and temps anywhere from 70-80. What should I do in terms of lighting? Maybe that's where I'm going wrong? And I'm using distilled.
 
These don't happen to be Nirvanashop mystery seeds?

I've had a few "failure to launch" and others taking twice as long to germ and up to 10 days= then stall out.
I started keeping them, more dry than usual and it has helped- so some of the problem is with my technique. Even though the ordered seeds are only taking 1 extra day @4- but thriving.
 
I've planted 7 mystery seeds- 3 sprouted and survived - one was male (so far)- 2 are new seedlings.
Again keeping them drier/warmer than normal seems to be the key.
All un-mystery seeds are only delayed by 1 day- which I attribute to a change in season-cooler, etc.
 
I had a 50% germination success with Nirvana freebies. Popped 6 and only 3 sprouted... using the same germ techniques with "better" seeds, I've been 97% successful.
