Seed germination

Question... why is it that some seeds germinate and make to harvest and others wither away when seedlings? Is it genetics?
using the same soil mixture for 3 years. Ib did change seed company. So are the seeds the culprit? Not God genetics?
some just do fine.

Genetics are always suspicious.
User errors are also always suspicious. Experience and repetition only mean you have a better chance at success. They do not mean you will always be successful.
Then there's the shit happens conundrum that says, essentially, shit happens.

There is a evolutionary reason why a single plant makes so many seeds. Nature expects a certain amount to fail but needs enough to succeed to maintain the species. Breeding the seeds under ideal conditions can enhance the ability to germinate but not guarantee it. Mother Nature's the original bitch.

Genetics sure
Poor quality (old) seed certainly, where did the seed come from and how old is it? How long did you have them and how did you store them?
Once sprouted then that 3 YO soil comes into play.

A grow near here planted 1000 feminized White Widow seed and got 1000 males. He never told us where the seed came from.
