RSO and Tincture

I love the idea of using cannabis in more of a medicinal form rather than smoking it. Which got me looking into RSO and Tinctures.

So my understanding of the difference in the two is that RSO is the exact same thing as tincture except you let allllll the solvent evaporate away (which causes it to be more potent and more of a tar) In a nutshell, is that correct??

Ive heard Tinctures suck if you are a heavy cannabis user??

And ive also read that people will take their RSO and dissolve it into alcohol to make a tincture... but isn't it a tincture anyways until you let the excess solvent evaporate then it's considered RSO?? So where the just converting their RSO back into tincture???

I want to turn a decent amount of my harvest into both tincture and rso. But I'm having trouble understanding the differences in them.

also, I am using the magical butter machine thing to make it.

Any advice, or shared experiences would be appreciated!

Hey Kpenn , I dont smoke at all and use RSO and tinctures for everything. I put tinctures in my tea and use RSO for cooking. I cant put tincs under my tongue because it burns badly. All your suppositions above are true, save the comment about tinctures "su.....king". Tinctures are just fine and as with all edibles they last longer and tend to hit you harder than smoking.

Okay okay awesome. That cleared up a bunch of confusion then.

Once you make your RSO could you dilute it into say coconut oil to make a tincture that doesn't burn??

Also using RSO for cooking, how do you do that? Just put a small 1/2 grain of rice size RSO into your food and that's it??

Canyon, just dilute your tincture with a bit of juice (I prefer orange juice, and I pretend I'm drinking a miniature screwdriver), and it's just warm under the tongue, kinda pleasant. I do 2 parts tincture, 4 parts juice.

Kpenn, check out this topic I started. I've made 3 tinctures with decarbed bud, and they are FANTASTIC!!!

I was thinking I needed to evaporate some of the alcohol, but I'm good: 2 half droppers from a 1 oz bottle of tincture is great for like 7 hours, with an initial 3-hour high that I let wear off before i go to work. I like the fact that you can very easily triturate the dosage (figure out how much you need to take for the right effect) with tinctures.

They stay good indefinitely in the freezer.

Kpenn, this is why I love the decarb machine: cuz you can put a decarbed bud under your tongue and absorb the THC that way. The less heat you use with cannabis, the better for the preservation of the good stuff like terpenes and flavinoids. So decarb the herb first and put it under your tongue: you get the dose, and then you can go enjoy your food, already high, no big surprises later...TINCTURE IS DA BOMB

Yes. You will find that RSO will dissolve in the same fats ( like coconut oil ) that you would normally soak bud in. It even suspends (not dissolving) in things like honey.

As alltatup indicates, tinctures are far more versatile than most realize. Given the increased potency and long lasting effects, im surprised more people dont make it their go to choice.

I have a container of RSO in the freezer. When cold its kind of a thick goo. As an example, I spoon out about a tsp or tblsp and mix it into a batch of cookie batter. I usually dose about a half cookie a couple three hours before bed. Wonderful!!!! For me, I agree completely with alltatup, Tinctures are da bomb.

MY NOTES on the experience of SUBLINGUAL TINCTURE

The onset of effects is rapid: After a 20-minute gradual onset, I experience an intense high lasting 2-3 hours, with very subtle, relaxing transitions as time passes. The initial intense high is followed by body and mind relaxation lasting for hours.

This is good for me to take early in the morning so that by the time I go to work, I'm in the relaxation phase. I am really enjoying it. I've done it each morning this week. This morning I tried my Cannatonic/Lithium OGK/Iced Grpfruit/WW tincture: I'm learning all about cannabis as medicine.
