Roots Organic soil

I'm helping my neighbor get his first little grow. He's going all out.
He's starting with FF Ocean Forest and Roots Organic soil when his plants get a little bigger. RO soil has perlite in it. Anyone have experience/opinion.
 
I have used Roots Organic Original from day #1- You will not need FF Ocean Forrest- ROO is fine with seeds/clones etc and will take a plant through the entire auto grow - @1 gallon per foot per month ratio.
I mix in dolomite for pH stability.
I water, adding Si and Cal/Mag after a few weeks.

My best results have been to add a small amount of cocotek nutrients (weekly)-> if you are looking for larger plants , yields.
 
That is all going to be above the guy's head. He's still buying stuff for his setup. It's above my head with issues you're having and taking care of. I feel I have more control with a fairly neutral soil and using low level nutes. What I have works for me pretty well. I get the height I need and would only want to change anything to get better buds. Never had an issue with nutrients. Supersoil and others that don't need nutes are too hands off, for me, in growing weed. Were I back in my old garden I would be mixing in the previous year's compost into my plot and growing crazy veggies and 'erbs. Never added anything to that. I might grow a pot of supersoil next to one of my Black Magic soil.

Just use Roots Organics Original (it's not a super soil) and low level nutrients and you will get great results.
 
I’ve used roots organic formula 707 for two grows and will use it for my third. I’ve had good results and control over the feeding schedule going this route
 
I use Fox Farm Trio, Alaska Fish Fertiliser and Molasses during flowering. But I have done a grow with just soil and got alright buds. They just didn't have the size that you get with propper nutes.
