Root stock care for grafting

Buddy just removed a big male plant. It was his very first harvest. Damn. The root stock is thick. I further removed all but the very thickest branches and lopped off about half the root ball. The RS was transplanted to a smaller pot and is being drenched.
Any suggestions as to how to treat the tips of the branches where I cut? Should the roots be kept moist? Would foliar spraying the remaining wood help growback? Any other ideas how to keep it growing?

the issue with grafting and weed is the rootstock being male (in flower already) may well take some issue when co joining with the scion,
with cannabis grafts I've made in the past indeed its very much up to the pheno selected
whether this op is successful or not

air layering could be a better alternative?

A thing I've heard about grafting to root stock is that the grafts don't take on any properties of the stock. Air layering will only make a male from a male. I don't have space to try a lot of things. This grafting experiment will pretty much live in my living room until something magical happens.
You'll get to know me vostok I get moded on a certain experiments and that's where I have to go.

I also understand you can grow multiple strains on a single stock.

Sure but its a nooby thing IMO time is spent in other grow areas,
indeed their are many growers who have grafted differing strains to a single rootstock to get around euro, plant limits

I have the time and junk to mess around a little.
The idea about grafting to get around plant limits is phenomenal!

Here's what I decided.
Four mains. Sprayed H2O2 and capped with aloe immediately after cutting. I'll probably replace the aloe every few days. It's a great medium for regular cloning. Why not for cuts?
