Root rot or stains ?

Well the h2o2 will kill off the bad stuff . You can start by cutting off the roots and we will see what happens . I’m less concerned about the h2o2 and more about the lack of Endo myco and beneficial bacterias I see the Hesi powersyme but I’m unsure what it is . I understand it breaks down dead root and plant matter but it doesn’t seem to be something to stop root rot . You really need something like orca or hydroguard . That’s just my opinion. With the high water temp your going to have to add something to fight off bad bacterias and that stuff from what I ready just breaks down dead plant matter .
 
Doc, what I did when I had root rot is: I finally, after many other trials and errors (H202 never worked for me), took each plant to the kitchen sink and gently washed and washed under cool running water, gently fingering the roots to get the gunk off.

I bought chillers for my two reservoirs and the problem didn't come back. I also lay on my back on the floor and peeped up into reservor, and taped light leaks with electrical tape.

Not really sure what to think in your case, because I see new white roots emerging from the brown ones. But you do want the roots to breathe, so if the gunk rinses off, and it feels gooey, then it may be root rot. The comeback of your roots is impressive though!!! Keep the res temps down as best you can, and make sure no light leaks, as someone else said above.

What I have a hard time deciding is if I should cut of the sick parts or just wipe and clean them..??
I have reservoir change tomorrow and will do it all before I change the reservoir, I'll also get some kind of bacteria. Alot of people talk about hydroguard so that's what I will try to get.
 
That’s up to you . I personally would cut them off . Roots are like leafs . Once they rot they will not return to nice white roots again .
 
That's not true. It depends whether there's still live root under the gunk or not. Which is why I recommended a thorough rinse under the faucet.

And considering that new growth was emerging from the brown roots, they're still alive.

The less damage done to living roots, the better. But do your own thing: that's how we learn...
 
I agree that the less damage the better but the new roots in my experience are due to the firing of the old roots not an extension of them . When I had rot I also had new root growth at the top like that . The real issue is the spread of the Rot . If a rinse and get it clean and looking good then just rinse . But that looks like a slimy mess to me and he already said the brown stuff falls apart to some degree when he messes with it which likely means it is already to far gone to be saved with just a rinse . Root pruning is not uncommonAnd will actually promote the growth of new roots . I agree there is a 50/50 chance the plant won’t survive an extreme root pruning but it will likely die in time without some form of major intervention .
 
DankwingDuck I see your points, and they are good advice. If Dr. Moggs is in the vegetation phase, then there's time to grow out more roots. I got the worst of the root rot during flower, and while it stunted bud growth, I still got some fine weed out of that grow...
 
Interesting comments, i Think that cutting them of is the best way to go ahead. Specially when I have so strong growth of new roots.
I'm in week 4 from seed, autos. Week 5 starts on Monday.
 
Snip away!!! And put big frozen plastic bottles in reservoir if your temps are too high; I found that to be a total pain in the butt so I got chillers: the bottles always melted so fast. I got my fingers crossed for ya.
 
I don’t worry about water temp anymore . I use orca and hydroguard . That’s 4 endo mycos and 14 good bacteria they keep anything I don’t want in check and just like the bad stuff they Fleurish When the temp goes up . I haven’t had any issues with my roots since adding them . But I did use ice packs for awhile and if you don’t have the problem under control I would advice you use ice packs too .
 
I am just about to start the flush. I Will cut the sick roots of and will try to get my watertemperature down under 26°C with ice. I have to buy the bacteria from overseas.
Until I have them I will keep temperature down with ice. I am thinking about getting an waterchiller but it feels like an to big investment when the heat of the summer is almoast over:)
 
Thanks ! That's a great deal, however, it says it only works with 110 V. I need one for 220 V. I'll definently get a chiller till next summer
 
Update,
I just emptied my buckets and was ready to start cutting the brown root of.
Sitting with the sciccor in one hand and the plant in the other I thought I should try and wash the roots.
Cleaning my plant quick in some running cold water I got this result.

So my question now is, is this really root rot ? The roots feel crispy and dont smell bad... My theory is that this brown gue is residue that the Hesi Powersyme is decomposing and the roots are starting to feed the dextrose.

how do the root feel to the touch? Still looks like rot to me . If they are good and she is growing leave them . The less stress the better . If it’s not getting worse over the next few day or a week then leave it alone . If it gets worse cut it off . Best answer I can give you without having your plant in my hand .
 
The roots dossent feel slimy , when i have them in my hand they feel fresh and "crispy".
I Will wash them all and my entire system and make sure the temperature stays below 25°C.
