I was showing off my root system and noticed that there is a section that looks like it has brown sludge on it ... I also noticed that there was some excess air hose in my bucket so it was like coiled in there n pulled the excess hose out so it just runs down to the air diffuser.. everything looks healthy on the plant and the rest of the roots look nice and white and healthy idk scared me, any advice, questions, ideas please?!?!?!? I use botanicare pure blend pro with all the additives including hydroguard... in at week 3 day 4 of veg so another 3 days till bucket change... please help!! FYI- Pic of the top of plant is on second post, wouldn't fit on first one

I've mentioned this before, it could be sludge from the hydroton pellets. I had brown gunk on my roots and sediment at the bottom of the reservoir. I washed and even soaked them in hydrogen peroxide.

Some nutrients will stain roots too.

I washed the hydroton but notice that too and it is like botanicare leaves like a brown weirdness on everything ... the liquid karma and the pbp grow both are brown and thick but not on all of the roots... did u use peroxide between nute changes or what n how much a gallon? Also did it affect the overall health? Was ur plant ok with this?

Hi BMW (I love the m3)

Do the roots have a smell? I don't like the looks of that picture with brown overtaking the white are you using hydroguard? you should figure this out before it gets worse. Go ahead and do a water change be real careful but if you see gunk in the tank try and wipe it out.

I use hydro guard in my regimen yes and no smell other than normal... I have 2 days left till weekly change n really want to wait till then but been watching plant really close and looks great n looks like growing every time I come in ... which is often but I figured if any change I would do a nute change ... ever since I pulled the hose out it looks like it's getting washed off by the bubbles ... scary tho n I watching closely

I would say it has got about 60% better since I pulled the excess hose out... I think it was sitting on the roots... thank you tho!!! Greatly appreciated

I meant I washed and soaked before even using the hydroton. You may be right, it could be the Hydroguard. Regardless, the roots aren't clumped up like root rot, so.... carry on.
