I like the Gordon brand rockwool cubes. I found a cheaper brand once, but the medium crumbled in my hand when I tried to remove it from the package. So I just stick with Gordon now days.
hey Toker1, Are the rockwool cubes the same as rockwool insulation? without the compression into blocks?(are they treated with something) I'v seen them in the grow store and it looks exactly like my garage insulation. Maybe i'll pull out a chunk and see if i can start a seed in it...
No, I believe the insulation is treated chemically. For example, fire proofing is important for insulation, but will reek havoc on plant roots. I’m not an expert, this is just my best guess.
