Reusing Soil (Primarily FFOF)

So Ive gone through 2 grows and both times used brand new FFOF soil (Conveniently acquired from my local nursery for $20 a bag for the large bag).

I am going to take a break for the season but a family member wants to start their first grow. They are on a very limited budget and will be using my equipment. To try and save a couple bucks we were both wondering if it would be harmful to reuse my old soil (I keep it for my other garden of veggies and they seem to love it).

I have never had any insects or mold and I always flush / rinse the soil before reusing it but I would hate to contribute to a bad 1st grow for someone getting into this amazingly fun experience.

Does anyome have any suggestions or comments from research or experience?

As always Thanks in advance.

Definitely not recommend to re use the soil cuz u have no idea whts left in it but I've used backyard soil before treated it like coco ph at 6 and gave nutrients from the start had no issues

If you use FFOF and have never had bugs ,your lucky . I have only a few times not found bugs in mine and I'm not the only one either, they could have come from the nursery I guess but not sure. Not much nutrients left if you use it again ,but yeah you can,

I would not re-use the soil. I'm sure you could without any major issues, but for the cost I would recommend starting with fresh soil. The nutrients in the soil are pretty much gone after a whole grow. I'm also with Daas69 regarding HF and bugs. I opened a new bag a couple of years ago and fungus gnats flew out of the bag! No more FF soil for me. I'm sure it's mostly related to the supply chain, not the soil quality. My first two grows used FFHF and they were great. Storing the soil outside is what can cause any soil to become infested with bugs, IMO.

Thanks everyone. I think I'm going to buy new soil for them no need to add to what may go wrong. Ill just keep using my old soil for my outdoor veggie garden, they love it.
